PointsNorth — Canadian Card Rewards
Overview
Pick the best Canadian rewards card at checkout, track welcome bonuses, and see points vs cash on Google Flights. 100% on-device.
PointsNorth Stop leaving points on the table. PointsNorth is the rewards co-pilot built for Canadian credit card holders. Most Canadians carry two or three rewards credit cards — but in the moment of booking a flight or checking out online, they just grab whichever card is on top of their wallet. That split-second guess could be costing hundreds of dollars in unredeemed rewards every year. PointsNorth fixes that. It runs quietly in the background, knows your cards and their earn rates, and surfaces the right card at exactly the right moment — on Google Flights, on Amazon.ca, on Air Canada, and on Expedia.ca. WHY INSTALL POINTSNORTH? Canadian rewards cards are genuinely complicated. The Amex Cobalt earns 5× on food and groceries but only 2× on travel. The TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite earns 3× on Air Canada flights but 1.5× on gas. The Scotiabank Passport earns 3× at the grocery store but 2× at restaurants. And every card has a welcome bonus with its own spend threshold and deadline — missing one means walking away from $300–$500+ in free travel. PointsNorth tracks all of it so you don't have to. WHAT POINTSNORTH DOES 1. Live overlays on Google Flights When you search for flights, PointsNorth injects a small panel beside each result showing: Which of your cards earns the most points on that purchase How many points you'd earn (e.g. "+3,400 Aeroplan") The estimated dollar value of those points (e.g. "~$57 reward value") Your welcome bonus progress — so you know if booking this flight will push you over the threshold If you haven't added any cards yet, PointsNorth prompts you to get set up rather than cluttering your results. 2. Smart checkout badges on Amazon.ca, Air Canada & Expedia.ca At checkout on supported sites, PointsNorth shows a small, dismissible badge recommending your best card for that specific purchase — including the earn rate and estimated points earned. One glance, and you know you're using the right card. 3. My Cards — your wallet in one place The popup gives you a clean view of every card you've added: Card name, issuer, annual fee, and rewards currency Your current points balance Transfer partners (e.g. Amex MR → Aeroplan, British Airways Avios, Flying Blue, Marriott Bonvoy) Adding a card takes about 20 seconds. Search by name, issuer, or rewards program, select the card, and optionally log your opening balance and whether you've activated a welcome bonus. 4. Bonuses — never miss a welcome offer deadline This tab is where PointsNorth earns its keep for new cardholders. For each card with an active welcome bonus, you get: A progress bar showing how much of the minimum spend you've completed A live countdown to the bonus deadline (highlighted in red when under 14 days) A quick "Add spend" field to log purchases as you go A "Bonus earned" badge once you've hit the threshold Welcome bonuses on Canadian premium cards typically range from 20,000 to 60,000 points — worth $200–$1,000+ in travel depending on the program. Missing the spend window means forfeiting that value entirely. 5. Goals — plan your next redemption Set a points target for a trip (e.g. "YYZ→NRT, 70,000 Aeroplan") and PointsNorth tracks your progress across all your cards. The Goals tab shows: Your total balance per currency with an estimated CAD value (e.g. "42,000 pts ≈ $714 CAD") Progress toward each goal How many more points you need Days remaining until your target travel date SUPPORTED CARDS PointsNorth currently supports 8 of Canada's most popular rewards cards: Amex Cobalt — Amex Membership Rewards, $155.88/yr, 5× dining & groceries Amex Gold Rewards — Amex Membership Rewards, $250/yr, 3× travel TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite — Aeroplan, $139/yr, 3× Air Canada CIBC Aeroplan Visa Infinite — Aeroplan, $139/yr, 3× Air Canada RBC Avion Visa Infinite — RBC Avion, $120/yr, 1.25× travel Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite — Scene+, $150/yr, 3× groceries BMO AIR MILES World Elite — BMO Rewards, $120/yr, 2× groceries & drug stores National Bank World Elite — À la carte Rewards, $150/yr, 5× travel More cards are coming in future updates.
