Pocket QA
Overview
Record & replay web tests with branching, variables and CSV runs; screenshots, highlights, Selenium export, SQL cases, DB rollback
Pocket QA lets you record browser interactions and replay them automatically — across pages, iframes, tabs, and complex multi-step flows — with zero coding required. It also ships two database-testing tools: a standalone SQL Test Case Designer that turns a SQL query into a ready test-case suite, and a DB Test Session that records every row you change through Adminer and rolls the whole test run back with one click. Formerly Fast Recorder & Playback — same extension, new name. Your scenarios and settings carry over. ──────────────────────────────────────── 🎬 RECORD & PLAYBACK ──────────────────────────────────────── • Record clicks and text input in real time — typing is debounced so you get one clean action per field, not one per keystroke • Add any of the other 14 action types manually (hover, drag & drop, navigate, upload, conditions…) • Replay any saved scenario with one click • Loop N times with configurable delay between iterations • Schedule playback at a set time — one-off or repeat daily • Sequence playback — run multiple scenarios back-to-back, each with its own delay • Works inside iframes, and resumes automatically if the page reloads mid-playback • Undo/redo on the action list — up to 50 steps ──────────────────────────────────────── 📊 CSV DATA-DRIVEN AUTOMATION ──────────────────────────────────────── • Upload a CSV file and run your scenario once per row • Each column maps to a ${variable} in your scenario • Export results as a spreadsheet with images in cells, an HTML report with embedded screenshots, or a ZIP of screenshot files plus CSV • Live progress panel shows current row, status, and elapsed time ──────────────────────────────────────── ⚙️ 16 ACTION TYPES ──────────────────────────────────────── • Page actions: click, type into a field, hover, open a native dropdown, drag & drop • Navigation & control: go to a URL, wait a set time, run your own JavaScript • Control flow: conditions, plus switch branches that run another scenario or jump to a step in the same one • Data & capture: read text from the page into a variable, and take screenshots of the visible area, the full page, or a single element • File upload: attach one or more local files to a file input or drag-and-drop zone, with filenames that can come from variables • 12 condition checks cover whether an element exists or is visible, what text or value it holds, the current URL, and its classes or attributes ──────────────────────────────────────── 🔤 VARIABLE SYSTEM ──────────────────────────────────────── • Define global ${variables} and reuse them across selectors, values, URLs, and scripts • 4 variable types: – Static — fixed plain-text value – Random — generated fresh each run: letters, numbers, alphanumeric, or a date-time stamp – Pick — randomly selects one option from a list per run – Fallback — tries values A → B → C in order and keeps the one that worked for the rest of the run • Read live page content into a variable while the scenario runs • CSV rows override variables per iteration — no scenario edits needed ──────────────────────────────────────── 📸 SCREENSHOT & CAPTURE ──────────────────────────────────────── • 7 capture modes: visible area, full page, scrolling panorama (vertical or horizontal), segments, a single element, and a whole application window (requested only the first time you use it) • Optional countdown before a capture, so you can open a menu or hover state first • Page zoom is reset to 100% for full-page and scrolling captures, then restored, so zoomed pages don't come out distorted • Crop and edit any capture, or open any image from the clipboard or a file in the built-in editor • Image diff — pixel-level comparison with adjustable sensitivity • Optional watermark with the page address and date-time • Configurable hotkeys for capture and recording ──────────────────────────────────────── 🖍 HIGHLIGHT ──────────────────────────────────────── • Select text on any page and highlight it in 5 colors, with an optional note per highlight • Highlights are restored automatically on your next visit • Browse and search everything you've highlighted, filtered by color or by page • Wildcard URL patterns control which pages share a set of highlights • Export all highlights as JSON ──────────────────────────────────────── 📤 EXPORT YOUR SCENARIOS ──────────────────────────────────────── • Bookmarklet — run a scenario from your bookmarks bar, no extension needed (screenshots, switch branches, and file uploads are skipped) • Selenium Python — generate a ready-to-run script from any scenario, screenshots included • Export / import scenarios, folders, and full backup/restore ──────────────────────────────────────── 🧪 SQL TEST CASE DESIGNER ──────────────────────────────────────── • Paste a SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, or DELETE statement — joins, grouping, sorting, paging, unions, and subqueries included — and get a numbered test-case list back, generated entirely in your browser • 4 techniques: equivalence partitioning with boundary values, decision tables with condition coverage, NULL behavior, and join/grouping/paging edge cases • Every case explains why it matters — the SQL rule behind it and the symptom you'd see if the query were wrong • Compare before/after — paste the old and new version of a query and each case is tagged Impacted or Unrelated, with cases that no longer apply listed separately so you can retire them • Flags defects in the query itself (such as a comparison with NULL that never matches, or a DELETE with no WHERE) and reports coverage per clause • Infers a working schema from the query — tables, columns, types, keys — draws it as a diagram, and generates the data rows each case needs plus a query to verify it • Set a sample value once and every case and data row that uses it updates together • Filter cases by clause, table, column, or impact • Vietnamese by default, one click to switch to English — exports always match the language on screen • Export test cases as CSV or JSON, test data as one CSV per table, or a SQL script to verify each case • Opens in its own tab from the Data tab, with a sample query ready on your first visit; nothing is sent anywhere ──────────────────────────────────────── 🗄️ DB TEST SESSION & ROLLBACK (ADMINER) ──────────────────────────────────────── Testing against master data means changing it. This puts it back. • Start a session on an Adminer page and every write is recorded, with each row's values before and after • Records changes from the edit form, grid edits, bulk edit and delete, cloned rows, and statements typed on the SQL page • Old values are read in full before each change, never from shortened grid text • Roll back the whole session, only the changes you tick, or just the last one (Alt+Shift+Z) — a preview lists what each undo will do and shows the exact SQL before anything runs • Re-apply — rolled back too soon? Put the test's values back, for the whole session or a single change, with the same preview and checks • Drift check per row — if someone else changed a value after you did, you see both values and choose to skip or overwrite • Safe by design — refuses changes it couldn't undo reliably (no key column, no WHERE, too many rows) and tells you why • Sessions persist — end, resume, switch between sessions on the same database, or roll back again later • A review page shows before/after for every column, and the popup shows which session is recording, one click away • Export the changeset as an undo SQL script or JSON • English by default, one click to switch to Vietnamese • Switch the Adminer panel off from the popup — no panel, nothing recorded, and open Adminer tabs follow straight away • The changeset stays in your browser, and rollback runs through your own Adminer tab ──────────────────────────────────────── 🎨 UI & SETTINGS ──────────────────────────────────────── • Dark / light theme, also applied to the Adminer panel and the DB Test Session page • 5 tabs — Record & Play, Data, Capture, Highlight, Settings — drag to reorder, order remembered • Hotkeys configurable and synced across your devices • Child Condition — target a parent container and match a child by value, text, id, class, or input type • Notifications when a run or capture finishes after the popup has closed • Tells you when a newer version is available ──────────────────────────────────────── 🔒 SMART SELECTOR ENGINE ──────────────────────────────────────── Records up to 8 different ways to find each element and tries them in turn during playback, including elements inside shadow DOM. If an element loads late, playback waits for it to appear. ──────────────────────────────────────── ⚡ LIGHTWEIGHT & PRIVATE ──────────────────────────────────────── No external libraries or remote code. Built on Manifest V3. All data is stored locally — nothing leaves your browser. ──────────────────────────────────────── TYPICAL USE CASES ──────────────────────────────────────── ✅ Automate repetitive form submissions ✅ Regression-test a web app UI without writing code ✅ Run the same workflow across hundreds of CSV rows ✅ Schedule a daily login and data export ✅ Generate a Selenium test script from a recorded session ✅ Capture full-page screenshots of several pages in one run ✅ Upload different files per CSV row ✅ Highlight and collect key passages while you research ✅ Turn a SQL query into a full test-case suite and hand it to your team as CSV ✅ See which test cases a SQL change affects before re-running the suite ✅ Edit data in Adminer during a test, then put every row back with one click
