Overview

Select any table on a webpage and instantly copy it as clean Markdown or CSV.

TableSnap turns any table on the web into clean Markdown or CSV in two clicks — paste-ready for GitHub issues, docs, spreadsheets, or an LLM prompt. HOW IT WORKS 1. Click the TableSnap icon (or press Alt+Shift+T) to enter selection mode. 2. Hover any table — it gets outlined with a "Click to extract" label. 3. Click it. A small panel shows a live Markdown preview. 4. Copy Markdown, Copy CSV, or download a .csv file. Done. FEATURES • Handles real <table> markup rock-solid: thead/tbody, th vs td, multi-row headers, and colspan/rowspan (spanned cells are correctly duplicated so columns stay aligned) • Best-effort support for "fake tables" built from div/ARIA grids (role="table"/"row"/"cell", repeated flex/grid rows) • Toggle "first row as header" for tables with no <thead> • Toggle "keep links" to render [text](url) instead of plain link text • Escapes pipe characters and collapses whitespace automatically — output is valid Markdown every time • Nested tables always resolve to the innermost table under your cursor • Dark-mode-aware panel, smooth hover highlighting, dimmed selection mode • Handles empty tables and very wide tables gracefully PRIVACY TableSnap does not collect, store, or transmit any data. It has no host permissions and makes no network requests — it only reads the page you explicitly click into selection mode on, converts the table you click entirely in your browser, and writes the result to your clipboard or a local .csv download. Nothing is sent anywhere, ever. PERMISSIONS, EXPLAINED • activeTab — lets TableSnap run only on the tab you're currently looking at, only after you click the icon or press the shortcut. It cannot run in the background or on tabs you haven't interacted with. • scripting — required to inject the selection UI into the page when you invoke it. • clipboardWrite — required for the Copy Markdown / Copy CSV buttons. Open source. Built with vanilla JS, no frameworks, no build-time dependencies bundled into the shipped extension.
