Keep Tab Active
Overview
Right-click to stop Memory Saver from discarding this tab. Nothing else.
Chrome's Memory Saver unloads background tabs to save memory. That's fine until it unloads a video you were halfway through, losing your progress. The browser only lets you allowlist whole sites, which doesn't help for a tab you want kept for an hour and then never again. Keep Tab Active protects just the tabs you pick, from a right-click, and leaves Memory Saver working everywhere else. HOW TO USE • Right-click a page, or a tab in the tab strip, and choose "Keep this tab active". • Or click the toolbar icon, or press Alt+Shift+K. • Protected tabs show a green pin on their favicon and "ON" on the toolbar icon. Do the same again to turn protection off. It sets the same per-tab switch as chrome://discards ("Auto Discardable"), so you can check it there. PRIVACY No data collected, no network requests, no analytics. By default it can only touch the tab you're viewing when you protect it. An optional setting allows all sites so the favicon pin also shows on background tabs and comes back after reloads. Open source (MIT): https://github.com/Comprehensive-Jason/keep-tab-active
