Babtab turns your Chrome into a trusted runtime your AI assistant can operate — safely, reliably, and under your control. Install the extension, connect your AI assistant in the Side Panel (Node.js 20+ required), and let it see and operate your real browser tabs through semantic commands. No Playwright, no Docker, no second browser, no cloud service in the middle. WHY BABTAB IS DIFFERENT: VERIFIED ACTIONS, NEVER GUESSES Traditional browser automation is "screenshot → guess coordinates → hope". Babtab is deterministic engineering: • Live Semantic Index — the page is scanned once, then updated incrementally; queries resolve in milliseconds without re-scanning the DOM. • Durable Handles — elements keep stable references across React re-renders; if confidence drops, Babtab reports it instead of clicking the wrong thing. • Pre-action Guards — every click is checked for visibility, stability, and occlusion before it happens. • Verification — "command sent" does not mean "success". If the expected outcome isn't reached, Babtab says so explicitly. No silent false success. • Local Recovery — small UI races are retried on-device without spending your LLM tokens. YOU STAY IN CONTROL • The Side Panel shows exactly which agent is in control (e.g. Controlled by: your agent) and what it's doing, live. • Pause / Take Over / Disconnect at any time with one click. • Sensitive actions (submit, pay, delete, publish, password fields) always ask for your explicit approval. Dangerous patterns (javascript: URLs, secret extraction) are blocked outright. • Per-site authorization: agents only touch sites you've granted. Ask-mode pauses on new sites until you approve. LOCAL-FIRST PRIVACY • Page content is processed on your machine. The relay forwards requests and results in memory only — it never stores page content or logs. • No account, no telemetry, no cloud. Open Babtab → use the one-click install button for your AI assistant (Node.js 20+) → confirm / enable the bridge in your AI assistant. If your assistant needs manual setup, copy the one-step command shown in the panel instead. 3. Return to Chrome and approve the connection. Your AI assistant starts the bridge automatically. It has passed Chrome Web Store review and requests only minimal permissions — you can safely click Continue to install.
