Overview
jotkit by Good Banana®: leave tagged comments on any web page and hand them to your coding agents through a local ledger.
jotkit lets you leave tagged comments on any element of any web page, then hands them to your coding agents to act on. Click a button, a card, or the whole page. Write what's wrong or what you want, attach a screenshot or a screen recording, and click "save." Your comment lands in a ledger on your own machine, and your agents read it, claim it, and fix it over MCP ("Model Context Protocol") or ACP ("Agent Client Protocol"). Something catch your eye on another site? jotkit works on any page, so you can reference things you like, things you want to fix, or things you want to avoid no matter where you are. WHAT YOU GET - Comments pinned to what you're looking at. Each comment captures the element's selector, attributes, a computed CSS summary and framework component context, so your agent knows exactly what you meant. - Screenshots, screen recordings and attachments, built directly into the comment dialog. - Tags that give you another layer of control and organization. Mark a comment as a bug, fix, regression, question, concern, or as reference or inspiration. jotkit lets you create your own tags, too. - Scope to a repository. Link your repos and attach each comment to one of them, or keep it global. Repository comments carry the branch and commit you were on, so comments reach the right agents in the right repo. - Control how much freedom your agents have to act on your comments. Choose per comment: Read only, Ask, Allow edits (changes files in the repository), or Auto (also runs commands such as tests). Read only is the default. - Walk away. An optional background supervisor picks up new comments across all your linked repositories, works them with the agent you choose, commits the result, and notifies you when it's done. - Nothing gets lost. Every comment, claim and outcome is appended to a log on your machine. Agents never edit your comments, two agents can't claim the same one, and commits an agent reports are checked against git. - No sign up. No subscription. Just install and get going. - Local and private. The extension talks only to the jotkit daemon on your own computer (127.0.0.1). jotkit has no central server or remote databases for your data to travel to. Everything happens locally, on your computer, and within your control. HOW TO USE IT 1. Install the jotkit command line tool: npm i -g @jotkit/jotkit 2. Set it up: jotkit init *This starts the local daemon, prints a pairing code, and registers jotkit with the coding agents it finds on your machine. 3. Click the jotkit icon (or press Cmd+Shift+Y, Ctrl+Shift+Y on Windows and Linux) to open the toolbar. Open settings (the gear) and paste the pairing code. 4. Optional: from inside a project, run the following so you can scope comments to that repository: jotkit link 5. On any page, pick an element (or comment on the whole page), write your note, select or create tags, set a scope, choose permissions, add a screenshot or recording if you like, and click "save." 6. Let your agent work it: - Ask your agent to check jotkit. "jotkit init" (step 2) already added its MCP server to your configs (for full list of supported MCP configs, please see the docs, link at the bottom of this description). - Or stream comments straight to an agent: jotkit acp <claude | codex | gemini | cursor | devin> - Or keep it running in the background: jotkit acp serve REQUIREMENTS This extension is a companion to the jotkit command line tool and does nothing on its own. You'll need: - Node.js 24 or newer - macOS or Linux - The jotkit CLI, installed with "npm i -g @jotkit/jotkit" and set up with "jotkit init" - A coding agent that supports MCP or ACP to act on your comments, signed in with its own account jotkit is free to use. It is not open source. Docs: https://jotkit.dev/docs Privacy: https://jotkit.dev/privacy License: https://jotkit.dev/license jotkit is a Good Banana® build: https://goodbanana.dev
