A Better Discogs makes the Discogs marketplace better for record collectors. The problem: Discogs matches your wantlist by EXACT release only. An album is released many times — different years, countries, pressings — and each is a separate "release." So a seller who has the album you want, but a different pressing, shows up as "0 items from your wantlist." You miss real matches. A Better Discogs matches at the ALBUM level instead. It scores every seller by how many of your wanted albums they carry — any pressing. FEATURES • Find best sellers for your wishlist — one button on your wantlist ranks sellers by how many of your wanted albums they actually have, across the whole marketplace. Pick which albums to search for, then drill into any seller to see the copies. • Find in market — one click from any wantlist row to the marketplace, filtered to that album (all pressings). • Seller wishlist score — see how many of your wanted albums each seller has in your chosen formats, catching matches Discogs' own badge misses. Even very large dealers are scanned in seconds. • In-collection & wishlist badges — every release in the marketplace or on its own page is marked if it's on your wishlist, already in your collection, or a missing album by an artist you follow. • Match details — grouped by album, with cover, condition, price + shipping, and a direct link to buy or add to cart. • Pick which pressings count — sometimes only the original press will do. Open any wantlist album, uncheck the pressings you don't want, and they stop counting as a match. Cover art, label, catalogue number, country and year are all listed, with a search box, so telling similar pressings apart is quick. • Collection discovery — find albums you're missing by artists you already collect. Follow an artist, and their unowned records show up alongside your wishlist matches on the same scan, in their own tab. Entirely optional and off by default. • Block sellers — keep a private list of sellers you'd rather not buy from, with your own notes. Blocked sellers are flagged (never hidden) on marketplace and profile pages, so you're reminded before you buy. Private to you; never shared. • Max price — set a ceiling so overpriced copies never surface. Compared in your own currency, so the limit means what you'd actually pay. • Sort by total price — reorder listings by landed cost (item + shipping), which Discogs' own sort ignores. • Hide unavailable — hide listings that can't ship to your country. • Wantlist and collection auto-sync — add or remove an item and the index updates itself, no prompt. • Scan filters — pinpoint what counts as a find. Narrow every scan by format, style, condition, shipping-origin country and more, so a seller's score reflects the copies you'd actually buy. • Filter templates — save your favourite marketplace filters and re-apply them in one click. • Scan depth — decide how much of a very large dealer's stock to read, and be told when a scan stops short instead of quietly returning a partial result. SETUP Click "Connect to Discogs" and approve access on Discogs' own site. There is no API key or token to create, and your Discogs password is never seen by the extension. WHAT'S NEW IN 2.2.1 Find the best sellers for your wishlist • A new button above your wantlist asks Discogs which sellers carry the most of your wanted albums — counting any pressing, which is the whole point. Discogs' own "items I want" view matches only the exact release you wishlisted, so it undercounts badly. • It opens with your albums listed — all selected, with covers, a search box, and sorting by date added, artist or title — so you can narrow to "just these three" before searching. Your selection is remembered for next time. • Results are sellers ranked by how many of your albums they hold, each showing where they ship from, their rating, a from-price and a from-shipping figure. Open any of them to see the matching copies, with View and Add to cart as usual. • Discogs returns at most 100 sellers, ranked by match count, so the list is a "best of" rather than exhaustive. A seller holding only one or two of your albums may not appear. A clearer match list • Matches are now grouped by album instead of one long wall of listings. Each album is one row showing its cover, how many copies that seller has, and the cheapest price — expand it for every copy, cheapest first, or use Expand all. • With a row open, its album header stays pinned while you scroll through the copies. • The header now links straight to the seller's page on Discogs. Fixed • Seller scans and marketplace lookups could stop working after Discogs shipped a site update, reporting "Forbidden". The extension now recognises that and repairs itself, and still falls back to reading listing pages if it can't. • Marketplace pages load noticeably faster: labelling the rows on screen no longer reads every listing of an album first. • Cover art and "date added" were missing for albums indexed before this release. Both are filled in by Index changes, at no extra cost. "Date added" now records when you added the album rather than when it was indexed, so sorting by it is meaningful. PRIVACY You use your own Discogs account. Nothing is collected, sent to a developer's server, or shared — everything stays in your browser. The extension reads only: it never adds, edits or removes anything in your Discogs account. Your blocked-sellers list and your per-album release filters are private to you and stored only in your browser; they are never shared or exported. Seller scans ask Discogs' own marketplace data API which of your albums a seller has, so that request tells Discogs which albums you asked about — the same as if you had searched for them yourself. Nothing else about you is sent, and it only ever goes to Discogs. The only non-Discogs request is a public exchange-rate lookup, used only in the fallback case where the marketplace API is unavailable and a max price has to be converted.
