Playlist Rewind
Overview
Right-click any YouTube video and jump straight to part 1 of its playlist, then let it play through in order.
You find "Skyrim Playthrough - Part 24" in your recommendations. You want to watch the whole series properly, from part 1. Right now that means: open the video, hunt for the playlist, hope the uploader linked it, scroll to the bottom of the list, click the first one. Playlist Rewind does it in one click. HOW TO USE Right-click any YouTube video and choose "Play this series from part 1". That's it. The extension finds the playlist that video belongs to, opens the first video with the playlist attached, and YouTube plays the rest in order by itself. It works on: * the video page you're watching * thumbnails in search results, your home feed and recommendations * YouTube links on any other website - Reddit, Discord, a Google result There's also an optional "Part 1" button under the video title if you'd rather not right-click. WHY IT'S NOT AS SIMPLE AS IT SOUNDS YouTube offers no way to ask "which playlist is this video in". That lookup does not exist - not in the API, not on the page. So Playlist Rewind works backwards: it reads the video's title, strips the "part 24" off the end, and uses what's left as a search key against the uploader's playlists. Crucially, the name is only used to decide what to CHECK FIRST. The answer always comes from opening a playlist and confirming your video is genuinely inside it. That matters more than it sounds: during testing, the best-matching playlist NAME was the wrong series, because the uploader had made two runs of the same game and typo'd the title of the correct one. Name-matching alone would have sent you to the wrong playthrough. Answers are remembered for 30 days, so repeat visits are instant. OPTIONS * Show a "Part 1" button under the video title * Ask before jumping, instead of going straight there * Always start part 1 from 00:00 (ignore "resume where you left off") * How many playlists to check per channel PRIVACY Nothing leaves your browser. Playlist Rewind talks only to youtube.com, using your own normal session, and keeps its notes on your own computer. No account, no API key, no analytics, no servers, nothing sold or shared. LIMITATIONS - PLEASE READ * It searches playlists made by the UPLOADER of the video. If the playlist was made by somebody else, it cannot be found - YouTube does not publish that relationship to anyone. * Channels with no public playlists obviously can't be searched. * Playlists longer than 800 videos are only read to that depth.
