Playback MCP

Overview
Control YouTube playback from local AI agents and MCP-compatible tools like Claude Code, Codex, etc.
Playback MCP bridges your agents and MCP clients to your normal browser for controlling YouTube playback. It pairs with a npm package of the same name. See website and docs for full installation instructions: Website: https://blaisemoses01.github.io/playback-mcp/ GitHub: https://github.com/BlaiseMoses01/playback-mcp/ KEY FEATURES - Parallel sessions: multiple agent sessions can drive different videos simultaneously. - Transcript search: find moments in videos by text and jump to them instantly. - Shared library: a common SQLite database, owned by the server, means all of your clients can access your saved videos, timestamps, and more, and reference them using the tools. - Direct DOM manipulation of the video element, to avoid browser interactions and other flaky approaches. HOW IT WORKS The extension connects to a local broker daemon. When you run agents with the playback-mcp server, agents gain full control over video playback: play, pause, seek, adjust speed and volume, loop sections, and search transcripts. PERFECT FOR - Researching video content while using Claude. - Building automation around YouTube videos. - Clipping, looping, and summarizing videos for musical practice, studying, or how-tos, to reference key points later based on topic. - Searching for a certain place in a video based on transcript context. This is a developer tool for advanced users.
