Plastfri shows you how much plastic is in a product before you buy it. While you shop, Plastfri reads the material and composition details on product listings and gives each item a plastic score. Synthetic materials like polyester, nylon, and acrylic raise the score; natural materials like cotton, wool, and linen keep it low. You choose what happens to high-plastic items: label them, dim them, or hide them from your results entirely. WHAT IT DOES • Scores products by plastic content using the listing's own material data • Checks products against a growing database of researched material compositions for exact, verified scores (optional, on by default) • Understands product categories — a coffee maker with a glass carafe is still a plastic-bodied machine, and scores like one • Labels, dims, or hides high-plastic items — you pick the threshold • Works automatically on the major fashion retailers and marketplaces it supports, with an opt-in mode for any other shopping site • Handles multi-component listings (shell, lining, filling) with weighted scoring • Optional on-device AI estimates for products with no material data at all — runs entirely on your computer, nothing leaves your browser WHY IT MATTERS Synthetic fabrics shed microplastics every time they're washed. Most shoppers never see the fiber content until after checkout — Plastfri puts it front and center, in the search results, before you click Buy. PRIVACY Scoring runs locally in your browser. With database lookups on (the default), Plastfri sends the retailer, public product ID, and public listing title — never the full page, page URL, search query, browser account, or personal account ID — and you can turn lookups off in settings for fully local operation.
