Overview
Stop Emojis and Em Dashes! Automatically tell ChatGPT, CoPilot, and Gemini to avoid emojis or dash-like punctuation in replies.
PlainSpeak Guard helps writers, editors, and professionals keep AI-generated text clean, readable, and professional. It automatically adds a short reminder to avoid emojis, em dashes, and decorative punctuation before you send prompts to ChatGPT or other AI tools. When you click Send, the extension inserts a clear guideline. It reminds both you and the AI to use standard punctuation, plain sentences, and consistent tone. The goal is to produce output that is easier to read and better suited for reports, documentation, or formal writing. PlainSpeak Guard does not change the meaning of your messages. It simply adds a short, visible reminder that enforces a writing style before your message is sent. AI tools are powerful, but they often produce writing that is too casual. Many responses include emojis, decorative punctuation, or complex sentence structures that reduce clarity. This is fine for social posts, but not ideal for professional communication. PlainSpeak Guard helps you train the AI to write the way you prefer. By sending a consistent reminder each time, you get cleaner, simpler answers that match your tone. The reminder is simple but effective: Do not use emojis. Do not use em dashes or dash-like punctuation. Use short, straightforward sentences with standard commas and periods only. By repeating this rule automatically, you save time and ensure a consistent writing style without having to retype it. Use Cases Writers and editors Keep output clean and consistent when drafting articles, proposals, or documentation. Professionals using AI Ensure your AI responses read like business communication, not casual chat. Teachers and students Promote writing discipline by removing distracting punctuation and focusing on clarity. Developers and researchers Maintain uniform tone in documentation and technical communication generated by AI tools. Teams with writing standards Enforce style rules across your organization without manual reminders or training each time. Privacy and Data Use PlainSpeak Guard does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. It does not access your AI account, chat history, or browser activity outside of the message box where you type. All logic runs locally in your browser through content scripts that never send data to remote servers. The only permission required is to read and modify the chat box content on pages like chatgpt.com. This is necessary for the extension to append the style rule before sending. How It Works 1. You open ChatGPT or another AI chat tool in Chrome. 2. You type your prompt as usual. 3. When you press Send or hit Enter, PlainSpeak Guard intercepts the submission. 4. It adds the plain writing rule text at the end of your message. 5. The extension then automatically re-sends your updated prompt. 6. ChatGPT receives the prompt with the reminder included and produces cleaner, simpler writing. The reminder is always visible in your own input box before submission. You can remove or edit it manually if you prefer.
