Plain Ticket – Markdown Editor for Jira

)Overview
Write and edit Jira Cloud comments in plain-text Markdown. Not affiliated with Atlassian.
Plain Ticket is a plain-text Markdown editor for Jira Cloud comments: write new comments and edit existing ones as Markdown, with a preview before you save. It answers a long-standing request on Atlassian's public tracker for a plain-text editor (JRACLOUD-72631, 1,700+ votes). WHAT IT DOES • Paragraphs and line breaks, bold, italic, strikethrough, inline code and code blocks, links, bullet and numbered lists, headings, quotes and horizontal rules. • Mentions, emoji, attachments, tables, panels, status, dates, smart links and other rich content appear as protected blocks and are kept exactly as they were. • "Copy as Markdown" turns an issue description, or a whole issue, into text you can paste anywhere (read-only). CHECKS BEFORE EVERY SAVE • Before every save it checks the conversion both ways, and blocks the save if protected content would change or the result wouldn't match your text. • It shows exactly what will change before anything is sent. • It backs up the original first, with one-click undo. • It never removes attachments. • Only Jira Software and Jira Work Management (business) projects can be edited. Every other project type — including service desk, customer service and product discovery — is read-only, so an internal note can never reach a customer by mistake. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • It uses the public REST API with the session you are already logged in with: no account, no OAuth screen, no admin install, no server of ours in between. • Nothing leaves your browser except requests to your own *.atlassian.net site. No analytics, no telemetry, no remote code. • Stored only on your device: backups of the comments you edit (last 5 per comment, kept 30 days) and unsent drafts (kept 7 days). One click in the extension's options, plus a confirmation, clears it all. LIMITATIONS Chrome only, Cloud sites only (not Server or Data Center). Descriptions can be copied but not edited yet. New comments are posted without a visibility restriction (an existing restricted comment keeps its restriction when you edit it), and replies can't be created from the editor.
