Prism for Instagram

Replaces instagram.com with a faster, lighter, fully themeable client. Unofficial - not affiliated with Instagram or Meta.

Instagram's website got slow and noisy, so I rebuilt the front of it. Prism replaces the instagram.com interface in your browser with something lighter. It's unofficial and independent, it runs entirely on your own machine, and there's nothing to sign up for - it just uses the Instagram session you're already logged in with. WHAT YOU GET - A feed that loads fast and scrolls without jumping, and a back button that actually puts you back where you were. - Messages that open instantly, with search across every conversation you've read. Folders, pinned chats, per-chat themes and a brightness dial for them. - Reels, stories, explore, profiles and saved collections, all in one place. - 19 looks, 25 palettes, three layouts (sidebar, top bar or dock), plus font, density and corner-rounding controls. Bring your own CSS if you want to go further. - Light, dark, or switched on a schedule. - Keyboard shortcuts throughout, and a self-test that tells you what's working if something breaks. WHAT IT DOESN'T DO - No account, no sign-up, no server. There is nothing to log in to. - No analytics, no telemetry, no advertising, no tracking of any kind. - Nothing you do is sent to me, because there's nowhere for it to go. - Your settings live in your browser. Anything Prism caches to stay fast stays on your computer, and one button in Settings deletes all of it. Prism only ever talks to Instagram, making the same requests its own website makes. It can't see anything your account can't. Install it, open instagram.com, and it's there. The toolbar button switches it off again whenever you want the normal site back.
