A private AI workspace that lives in your browser side panel. Chat with the page you're reading, extract structured data, organize research locally, and review exactly what would be sent before anything leaves your device. FEATURES • Page-aware chat — ask about the current page, selected text, multiple tabs, or a video transcript • Smart Scraping — point, select, and extract repeated page data into clean tables with a review step • Knowledge Vault — save pages, clips, chat answers, and extracted tables; search by keyword or meaning; organize into collections • Mind Maps — turn a topic, page, or video into an editable interactive mind map; expand any branch with AI • File & OCR chat — attach PDFs and images; text is extracted and OCR-processed locally in your browser • Privacy Audit — see which trackers and data collectors a page loads, with timelines and re-audits • Bring your own key — connect the AI provider of your choice with your own API key, or run everything on your own machine with a local model • Review before send — every provider request shows the provider, model, route, and selected context before it is sent • Compare models — send the same reviewed prompt to multiple models and compare answers side by side • Local-first — API keys, chat history, Vault items, projects, and preferences stay in your browser • Six interface languages including right-to-left Arabic; OCR in English and Arabic • Export your work — documents, spreadsheets, presentations, images, and archives HOW TO USE Click the Basira icon in the toolbar to open the side panel Open Settings, choose a provider, and paste your API key (or point it at a local model) Click a quick action like Summarize, or attach page / Vault / file context and chat Save anything worth keeping to the Vault, or extract it with Smart Scraping PRIVACY Basira collects no analytics and runs no background requests. Your keys, chats, Vault, and projects are stored in your browser. The only data that leaves your device is what you explicitly send to your chosen AI provider when you run a provider-backed action — and you review the exact context first. PERMISSIONS • "Read and change data on all sites" — required for page-aware chat, Smart Scraping, selection overlays, and Privacy Audit. Basira only reads a page when you explicitly capture or attach it. • "Read your browsing history" — used only to list your open tabs when you choose which tabs to attach to chat. History is never stored or transmitted. • "Storage" — keeps your chats, Vault, projects, settings, and keys locally in your browser.
