Overview

Click an element on your local dev site, say what should change, send it to Claude Code, Cursor or Codex. No screenshots on disk.

Pinpoint helps you brief your AI coding agent about UI changes without describing "the third button on the left." HOW IT WORKS 1. Run the free, open-source Pinpoint bridge on your own machine (127.0.0.1): git clone the repository, then run node pinpoint/bridge/cli.js setup. 2. Open your local dev site (localhost, 127.0.0.1, .local or .test hosts). 3. Press Alt+Shift+A, click an element (or drag a box around a group), and type what should change. 4. Your coding agent (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or any MCP client) receives the CSS selector, DOM path, computed styles, the React or Vue component, a source-file hint and a cropped screenshot. A CONVERSATION, NOT A GUESS The agent can ask a question before it edits; you answer right on the page. When it is done you see its reply and a before/after picture, then Accept or say Not quite. When the element belongs to a component used several times on the page, Pinpoint asks whether to change just this one or the component itself. ALSO Record steps for bugs that take several clicks, notes about the whole page, drafts, and pins that stay on the element after reloads. Recent page errors and failed requests are attached to a note, with secrets removed. LOCAL ONLY The bridge listens on 127.0.0.1 only. Your notes go to the coding agent you connect, and nowhere else. Pinpoint runs on local development pages; any other tab needs your explicit opt-in from the toolbar popup. PERMISSIONS • Tab capture: to crop a screenshot of the element you marked. • Host access: required by Chrome for tab capture; automatic injection is limited to local development hosts. • Web requests: to note which requests from your local dev page failed (status and URL, query strings removed). Request bodies and headers are never read. • Native messaging (optional): so the popup can start the local bridge after a one-time setup. Open source (MIT): https://github.com/gowtham012/PinPoint
