Overview

Hover any photo on any site, press the magnifier, and the Ravelry patterns that would knit it open in the side panel.

You see a jumper you like. It is on a shop, a pin board, a blog, or a friend's holiday photo, and it is not for sale as a pattern. Pin to Pattern finds the pattern that would make it. Hover a photo. A button appears on it. Press it, and a panel opens with knitting and crochet patterns from Ravelry that would make the thing in the picture, best first, each with a score and one sentence saying what matches and what does not. HOW IT WORKS A vision model reads the photo the way a knitter would: silhouette, neckline, sleeve, length, crown, brim, handles, stitch texture. Colour, styling and background are ignored, because a pattern is not a colour. It turns that reading into Ravelry's own vocabulary, searches the public pattern index, and scores what comes back against the photo. WHAT IT RUNS ON Every site. A list of shops would be wrong within a week, so the button appears on any photo big enough to be a garment, and on nothing else — not logos, not sprites, not banners. FREE, AND NO ACCOUNT NEEDED The first click works signed out. An account is only for keeping what you find: sign in with a six-digit code by email at patterns.chricrafts.studio and the patterns you keep are waiting for you there. WHAT IT SEES The script reads nothing at all until you press the button. Pressing it sends the address of that one image, and the caption next to it, which is what makes a search work. It never reads form fields, cookies or passwords, and it cannot see tabs you are not looking at. Made by Chri Crafts Studio. Pattern data from Ravelry.
