PichaLite for Google Photos — Preview

Select photos, compress locally, verify uploaded replacements and review originals for cleanup.

Your photos. Lighter. PichaLite creates smaller replacements for selected Google Photos images directly from your desktop browser. Compression runs locally on your computer; replacement images upload directly to Google Photos. HOW IT WORKS 1. Select photos using the PichaLite toolbar in Google Photos. 2. Choose JPEG quality and compress locally. 3. Upload smaller replacements. 4. PichaLite downloads replacements and compares their SHA-256 hashes against the compressed files. 5. Review and approve moving verified originals to Google Photos trash. Both copies are rechecked before cleanup. Interrupted uploads require reconciliation instead of automatic reupload. PichaLite never empties trash automatically. PREVIEW LIMITATIONS This is an early developer preview. Installed-extension, live Google Photos replacement acceptance testing is still outstanding. Start with disposable copies. Supports ordinary JPEG and opaque PNG inputs up to 40 MB and 40 megapixels, with English Google Photos controls. Transparent/animated images and detected motion/HDR/multi-picture images are skipped. Replacements are new items: Google-only dates, albums, favourites, comments, edit history and shared links are not transferred. Cloud deletion can affect synced devices. Smaller files do not guarantee equivalent Google storage quota savings. An already-full Google account can block uploads. PRIVACY Processing and batch records stay on your device. Replacement images and embedded metadata, which may include GPS location, are uploaded only to Google Photos. No analytics or advertising code is included. See the privacy policy for permissions, storage and deletion details. PichaLite is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.
