Overview

Bilingual YouTube subtitles + offline dictionary. 14 directions: EN↔JP·KO·ZH·ES·FR·DE. Hover a word: IPA, CEFR. FSRS flashcards.

Turn YouTube into flashcards. Piccard shows bilingual subtitles on any video with captions, in both directions: English with Japanese, Korean, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Spanish, French or German. Pick your pair once; subtitles, cards and the app all follow it. HOVER, TAP, REMEMBER • Hover a word in Japanese, Korean, Chinese or English subtitles: reading or pinyin plus the meaning, from dictionaries bundled inside the extension. No network needed. • Tap a subtitle line: it becomes flashcards, and each card keeps its moment in the video, so review replays it. • Double-click any word on any webpage: an offline tooltip (IPA and CEFR level for English, readings for Japanese, pinyin for Chinese) with one-click save. • Review runs on FSRS, the spaced-repetition scheduler Anki uses. Nothing to set up. DICTIONARIES, OFFLINE Japanese (JMdict), Chinese (CC-CEDICT, both scripts in one index), Korean (Wiktionary via kaikki.org), English (ECDICT) with IPA + CEFR. Conjugated forms resolve to the dictionary form: 食べて → 食べる, 먹어요 → 먹다, standing → stand. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Lookups never leave your browser. No ads, no tracking. The only outbound click happens when you save a card, which opens piccard.app. HOW IT READS CAPTIONS Piccard reads the caption track YouTube has already delivered to your page, with your existing session. It never downloads the video, never exports a transcript, and only uses the line you tap.
