PhotoSweep finds duplicate and similar photos and videos in Google Photos™ so you can review matches and move only what you confirm to Trash. Matching runs in your browser. PhotoSweep does not upload your photo library for analysis. How it works 1. Open the library in Chrome. 2. The first unscoped Smart scan uses the last 29 days so large libraries stay fast. A chosen album, date range, or iCloud/Amazon batch skips it. 3. Exact and Similar stay in separate groups so you do not trash a lookalike thinking it is the same photo. Exact is the same item (metadata); Similar is a lookalike. Choose which copy to keep. 4. Type the item count to confirm. 5. Move selected items to Trash. You can recover them from Trash. • Export an audit report (JSON) or spreadsheet (CSV) from the review menu if you want a record. Optional license unlocks larger and full-library scans. Matching still runs in the browser. iCloud Photos and Amazon Photos can be used from a signed-in browser session. They are not the same as Google Photos. Album scope is Google Photos only. Thumbnails load from the provider CDN (about 200px previews, not full originals). Video matching uses poster and thumbnail stills, not a full decode of the file. Optional usage analytics are off until you tap Allow; no photo content is sent. License checks, and analytics after Allow, leave the device. Optional license is Stripe Checkout, not Chrome IAP. Do not read this as “nothing ever leaves the device” or “100% private.” Always review before Trash.
