Photos First for X

Fixes X's new profile tabs: open Media on Photos (not Videos) and Posts on All — automatically, no reload.

Photos First for X is a small extension that opens X profiles with the Media tab on "Photos" and the Posts tab on "All". Since X's July 2026 profile redesign, the "Posts" tab became a dropdown (All / Posts / Highlights) and the "Media" tab became Videos / Photos — and they reset to "Posts" and "Videos" every time. X has no setting to change this. The extension automatically switches a profile to • Posts ▾ → "All" • Media ▾ → "Photos" the moment you open it. ■ Features • No page reload — it just switches which tab is shown and lets X re-render • Works right after install; the options page lets you turn either rule off • "Remember" mode reuses whatever you last picked from the dropdown • If you manually choose "Posts" or "Videos" from the dropdown, it respects your choice • Runs only on x.com / twitter.com profile pages • No data collection, no network requests, open source (MIT) ■ How it works On the X web app the visible tab is determined by the URL (/username/all, /username/media?filter=photo). The extension detects when you navigate to a profile and switches to that URL. It does nothing else. ■ About the permission prompt When you install, Chrome asks to allow "read and change all your data on x.com and twitter.com". This is the standard permission Chrome requires for any extension that acts on a page, and it is only used to switch tabs on profile pages. The extension never reads your posts, DMs, followers or account details, and never sends anything anywhere. The full source code is on GitHub. ■ Note If X changes its URL scheme this may stop working. In that case the extension automatically restores the original view and pauses itself for a while (it will not leave the page broken). Please report on GitHub Issues.
