PhotoDeduper: Duplicate Photo Cleaner for Google Photos

PhotoDeduper finds duplicate and near-duplicate photos in your Google Photos library and moves the ones you don't want to the trash — right inside photos.google.com. No downloading your library, no re-uploading, no desktop app. WHY THIS EXISTS Google Photos has no "find duplicates" button. It silently skips byte-identical re-uploads, but the duplicates you actually see — re-saved copies, edited versions, screenshots of photos, WhatsApp re-downloads — stay in your library and eat your storage. PhotoDeduper finds them. HOW IT WORKS 1. Open Google Photos and click the PhotoDeduper icon. 2. It scans your library through your own logged-in session and groups exact duplicates (same file name and size) and visually similar photos (perceptual matching, with a similarity slider you control). 3. Review every group side by side. PhotoDeduper pre-selects the best copy to keep (highest resolution, original over edit) — you can override anything. 4. Confirm, and the rejects move to the Google Photos trash. Nothing is ever permanently deleted by the extension. SAFE BY DESIGN • Trash-only: removed photos sit in the Google Photos trash for 60 days. Restore them any time. • Undo: reverse a cleanup in one click right after it runs. • On-device: scanning, matching, and review all happen in your browser. Your photos and their data never leave your machine — there is no PhotoDeduper server. • Fail-closed: if Google changes how Photos works, PhotoDeduper stops rather than guessing. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account, no sign-up, no analytics, no tracking. The extension talks only to Google Photos, as you, in your existing session. Diagnostics stay in a local log that only you can see, and are only ever shared if you explicitly click "Report a problem" — which copies the report for you to email.
