)Overview
Real-time Phishing URL detection using CNN model and Google Safe Browsing.
PhishGuard is a real-time phishing website detection system designed to help users identify potentially unsafe websites before entering sensitive information. The extension analyzes the current website URL using an AI-based phishing detection model and supports Google Safe Browsing verification through a secure Firebase proxy. When a website is detected as suspicious or high risk, PhishGuard displays a warning message to alert users before they continue browsing. This helps users avoid phishing websites that may attempt to steal passwords, OTP codes, banking details, account credentials, or personal information. Main features: • Real-time website scanning • AI-based phishing URL detection • Google Safe Browsing support through Firebase • Clear safe, suspicious, and phishing warnings • Local browser-based model inference • Simple popup interface with risk status • Privacy-aware logging that stores only limited scan metadata PhishGuard is developed as an academic cybersecurity project to demonstrate how machine learning and browser extension technology can be used to improve user protection against phishing attacks.
