Overview
Live meeting transcript in a side panel, then AI minutes with action items and dates. Zoom, Teams and Meet, in the browser.
Minutely turns a meeting into minutes without recording anything, without an account, and without sending your conversation to a company you have never heard of. THE TRANSCRIPT Open a Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or Zoom call in Chrome, turn the meeting's captions on, and a side panel fills in as people speak. Each person gets their own colour and their initials, the line still being spoken sits at the bottom, and you can scroll back to what somebody said twenty minutes ago. It reads the captions the meeting is already showing on screen. That means the speech recognition is the meeting provider's own, the speaker names come attached, and Minutely never touches your camera. It does not touch your microphone either, unless you switch on the optional fallback described below. THE MINUTES Press Summarise. You get a title, a short summary, the decisions, the key points, who has to do what, and when. Summarising runs on the Gemini model built into Chrome, on your own machine. No key, no account, nothing uploaded. If you would rather use a Gemini API key of your own, for very long calls, you can paste one in; that is the only way anything leaves your computer, and it is entirely your choice. DATES YOU CAN ACTUALLY USE Every action item can carry a deadline, and each one has a button that opens Google Calendar with the event already filled in. You press Save. Minutely never writes to your calendar itself. Dates are worked out in code, not guessed by the model, and they are read the British way round: 04/10 is the 4th of October. A deadline Minutely inferred rather than heard stated is marked as inferred, with a dashed amber pill, and the note travels into the calendar event's description so you can still see it in six weeks. WHAT IT WILL NOT DO Every action item has to come with the words that produced it, and every quote is checked against the real transcript. Anything that fails keeps its place in the list, loses its deadline and its calendar button, and says plainly that it could not be matched. A summariser that quietly invents a task with your name on it is worse than no summariser. If Minutely can see captions on screen but cannot read them, which happens when a meeting provider changes its layout, it says exactly that, and offers you a button to point at a caption line so it can repair itself. It will never tell you to turn on captions that are visibly already on. ASK YOUR OWN MEETINGS Once you have a few meetings stored, an Ask tab appears. Put a question to it in plain English, about the meeting you are looking at or across all of them, and you get a sentence or two back with a button to the meeting it came from. It answers only from what is actually in your stored meetings; when the notes do not support an answer it says so rather than filling the gap. You can also reach the same meetings from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor through an optional local connector. It runs on your own machine, it is off until you turn it on, and Minutely pushes to it. Nothing reaches into your browser. PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION - No server. There is no Minutely backend to send anything to. - No account, no sign-in, no analytics, no tracking. - Transcripts are stored in this browser profile on this computer and nowhere else. They are never synced. - Three permissions, and one host permission used only when you have supplied your own API key. The local connector asks for a second one at the moment you switch it on, and hands it straight back when you switch it off. - Delete any meeting, or everything, from Settings. You choose how long transcripts are kept. BEFORE YOU BUY INTO IT Minutely works with the WEB versions of Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Zoom. The Zoom and Teams desktop applications run outside Chrome, and no browser extension can see inside them. If your meetings are on the desktop app, join in the browser instead, or this is not the tool for you. Captions must be switched on in the meeting itself. Teams in particular turns them off at the start of every call. Minutely records where a transcript starts late and tells you, rather than presenting a partial record as a complete one. Keeping a written record of a meeting is recording it, whatever the source. Everyone in the room should know you are doing it. Minutely asks you to acknowledge that before it captures a word, and shows a visible indicator for as long as it is running.
