Overview

Private on-device AI chat using Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano.

NanoChat is a 100% private, on-device AI chat app, like a very basic ChatGPT that runs entirely inside Chrome using the built-in Gemini Nano model. No network calls. No server. No accounts. No API keys. Nothing leaves your machine. If Google is going to package this with Chrome, may as well use it! NanoChat is: • Private. NanoChat's content security policy blocks all network access at the browser level (connect-src 'none'). NanoChat makes no network requests. • Free. No subscriptions, no usage caps, no sign-in. The model is provided by Chrome itself. As the built-in Chrome model gets better, NanoChat will get better. • Works offline once Chrome has downloaded the model component. • Encrypted at rest. Chat history is stored locally and encrypted with AES-GCM; the key is non-extractable and lives in IndexedDB. • Page-aware. Right-click any web page (or use the toolbar popup) to summarize it or ask questions about it.
