Permalink Tab Auto Closer for Slack

Closes the leftover browser tab after a Slack link opens the desktop app, and restores focus to the tab you were on.

Click a Slack link in your email, calendar, notes, or chat and Slack opens in the desktop app — but the browser tab it came through stays behind. Over a day that adds up to a row of dead tabs. This extension closes that tab for you, a few seconds after the hand-off, and returns focus to the tab you were on before the link opened. HOW IT WORKS Slack's own page already hands off to the desktop app. This extension does not change that, does not rewrite URLs, and does not build slack:// links. It waits, then closes the tab. Because it stays out of the hand-off, there is nothing to break if Slack changes how its links work, and no workspace ID to configure. A small countdown notice appears while it waits. Click "Keep tab" if you wanted the browser this time, and the tab stays open. WHERE IT RUNS - Slack channel and message permalinks (*.slack.com/archives/...) - Slack profile links (*.slack.com/team/...) It deliberately does NOT run on app.slack.com — that is the Slack web client itself, and closing it would shut a tab you are actively working in. SETTINGS - On/off switch, so you can pause it without uninstalling. - Close delay, in seconds. Default is 5. PRIVACY - No data collected. No analytics, no telemetry, no network requests at all. - No third-party libraries or dependencies. - One permission: "storage", used only to remember your two settings. - The "tabs" permission is NOT requested, so the extension cannot read the URLs or titles of your other tabs.
