Perk: focus timer and stretch breaks
Overview
A focus timer that makes you take the break: a quick guided stretch, a glass of water, then back to work.
Breaks you actually take. You know how it goes. The timer rings, you hit dismiss, and three hours later your neck hurts. Perk is a focus timer that doesn't let the break slide. When a block ends it opens one short stretch, shows you how to do it, and tells you to drink some water. Then it's back to work. HOW IT GOES • Pick a rhythm: Long 50/10, Short 25/5, or set your own. • Hit Start. The toolbar icon counts down the minutes. • Two minutes before the break you get a heads-up, so you can finish your thought. • The break opens in a tab with one stretch to follow. Do it, tap Done, carry on. WHAT'S IN IT • Heads-up before breaks, with a snooze for when you need five more minutes. • Doesn't yank you out of other apps. Working somewhere else when the break comes? Perk chimes and notifies you, and the break waits in a tab. • Waits during calls. On Google Meet, Zoom or Teams? The break holds until you hang up. • Animated stretches. 16 short moves for your neck, shoulders, back, wrists, eyes and hips. Push-ups, squats and a walk are there if you want them. • Your pick. Choose a man or a woman to show the moves, and switch off any stretch you don't like. • Stepped away from the desk for a while? That counts as your break. • XP and badges. Every break you take earns XP. There are levels and 24 badges to collect. Skipped breaks earn nothing. • Weekly card. See your breaks, focus time and what you stretched, and save it as an image to share. • Water and lunch reminders, plus work hours so Perk stays quiet in the evening. PRIVACY • No account. Nothing to sign up for. • No camera. Perk shows you the stretch and takes your word for it. • Your settings and break history stay in Chrome on your computer. No ads. • Anonymous usage stats (which parts of Perk get used, never the sites you visit) help improve it. Switch them off in settings any time. • Perk only checks whether a Meet, Zoom or Teams tab is playing sound, so it knows you're on a call. It never reads the call or the page. The stretches are general movement tips, not medical advice. Skip anything that hurts.
