This is made for quiet audio: podcasts, calls, tutorials, lectures and older recordings that were still too quiet at maximum boost. Higher volume alone is not enough, so the limiter that protects your sound was rebuilt. Perfect Ear now uses a true brickwall limiter that looks slightly ahead of the audio and holds the output just below the maximum digital level. Peaks can no longer overshoot and be cut off by the browser. What this means for you: • No crackle or harsh edges at high volume, at any setting up to 600% • Cleaner low end, especially with the bass sliders raised • Measurably lower distortion at every volume level than in previous versions • Normal listening volume stays the same, and audio stays in sync with video Everything else sounds the same Auto EQ, the compressor, Bass Boost and the visualizer are unchanged and behave exactly as before at any volume. Good to know Very loud, heavily mastered music already reaches the maximum output level around 300%, so settings above that mainly help quiet sources rather than making loud music louder.
