Ida
Overview
See who makes it, who sells it, and who profits before you buy. Every line links to a public document.
You know what the label says. Ida tells you who gets the money. Open a product page at a supported online grocery or retail store, and Ida puts a small card in the corner of the page: who makes it, who sells it, and whose pocket the profit lands in. Then one line that tells you the story in plain English — who bought the brand, when, and from whom. Your favorite brands are often changing hands. Small, independent brands you love are bought out by private equity. The brand name doesn't change, but the quality and flow of money almost always does. Ben & Jerry's is no longer Unilever's. Peet's, Stumptown and Intelligentsia now pay Keurig Dr Pepper. Blue Buffalo is General Mills. Iams is Mars. The name on the package didn't change; the owner did. Ida shows you, before you buy. Every claim on the card is sourced. Click "receipts" and you'll see the actual documents: SEC filings, USPTO trademark records, the company's own press release or portfolio page, state filings. No document, no claim — Ida says "not yet sourced" instead of guessing. Think a record is wrong? There's a link for that on every card, and a correction backed by a document beats our record. Ida is free and reads nothing about you. It looks only at the brand text already shown on the page, in your browser, and never sends what you're viewing anywhere. No account, no analytics, no cookies. Its one network request is downloading the public register file, about once a day, so the records improve without you reinstalling. This is an early beta: 248 records today across coffee, health & beauty, household, baby, over-the-counter health, and pet — the biggest names in each aisle, growing every week. If a brand isn't in the register yet, the card simply won't appear. Who profits when you buy this? Now you'll know.
