I love Pear Deck, but the Power Up extension is a complete bust. This is such an important feature, I don't know why it's taking them so long to sort this out. I only open from Google Slides and animations still don't work, so that comment below is pointless.

It doesn't work if you're reopening a Pear Deck, which is less than ideal. I don't always get through a full presentation in one day, and I like to reopen the Pear Deck instead of starting a new one (in order to keep student responses all in one place).
