Overview
Extract tables, text, and data from PDF files (including scanned PDFs via OCR) and export them directly to Excel (.xlsx) format.
Turn any PDF into an Excel spreadsheet — instantly, and entirely on your device. PDF to Excel Extractor pulls tables and text out of PDF files and exports them as a ready-to-use .xlsx file. No account, no upload, no waiting on a server. Everything happens locally in your browser the moment you drop in a file. HOW IT WORKS Click the extension icon and drop in a PDF (or browse for one) Choose how you want it read: Tables only, All text, or Structured (smart column detection) Optionally pick specific pages, or turn on OCR if the PDF is a scanned image Click Extract to Excel — a .xlsx file downloads straight to your computer WILL MY PDF BE UPLOADED ANYWHERE? No. Your file never leaves your device. All parsing, table detection, and Excel generation run inside the extension itself, using PDF.js and SheetJS — both bundled directly in the extension, not loaded from a server. We don't have a backend, we don't see your files, and we don't collect what's in them. The one exception: if you turn on OCR for a scanned PDF, the extension downloads a small language file (a few MB) from a public OCR data source the first time you use that language, so it can recognize text in images. That download contains no data of yours — it's a one-time asset fetch, cached afterward, and it only happens if you explicitly enable OCR. WHY DOES IT ASK FOR THESE PERMISSIONS? Downloads: needed to actually save the Excel file it generates to your computer. That's the only thing this permission is used for. Host access to tessdata.projectnaptha.com: the one external address contacted, and only for the OCR language file described above. That's the complete list. The extension does not ask for access to your browsing history, other tabs, or the sites you visit. FEATURES Three extraction modes: Tables only, All text, or Structured (smart) Smart table detection that keeps columns aligned even when spacing is uneven across a page Built-in OCR for scanned PDFs, in 10 languages Extract specific pages (e.g. 1-3, 5, 8-10) instead of the whole document Export as one sheet per page, or a single combined sheet Auto-sized columns so the output is readable immediately, no manual cleanup GOOD TO KNOW Works best on native (text-based) PDFs — invoices, reports, statements, exported documents. For scanned PDFs, turn on OCR; accuracy depends on scan quality, and OCR takes longer per page than native text. PDF table structure is inferred from text position, not a guaranteed table format inside the PDF itself, so very unusual layouts may need light manual cleanup after export. Free to use, no account required, no limit on number of files. Questions or something not working as expected?
