PDF Reference Helper
Overview
Extract references from academic PDFs and quickly access them on Google Scholar with one click.
PDF Reference Helper streamlines academic research by extracting references from PDFs and linking them to Google Scholar. Export selected references to BibTeX and work in a persistent, movable window. Processing is local; no data is collected or sent to servers. Key features - Accurate reference extraction (numbered, enumeration, and author‑year styles). - One‑click links to Google Scholar and official PDFs via DOI or arXiv. - Select references and export to .bib (Zotero/LaTeX ready). - Persistent, movable window for multitasking across PDFs. - Local‑only caching with chrome.storage.local; no analytics or tracking. - Minimal permissions; site access requested at runtime when needed. How to use 1) Open a PDF in Chrome (online or local). 2) Click the extension icon. 3) If prompted, allow access to the PDF’s site. 4) Click “Find references.” 5) Use Scholar/DOI/arXiv links or export selected items to BibTeX. Troubleshooting - If you don’t see a permission prompt on online PDFs, reload the extension and try again. - For local files (file://), use Chrome’s viewer or host via “python3 -m http.server”. Privacy No personal data collected, stored off‑device, or shared.
