Overview

Remove unwanted pages from any PDF and save a clean copy, all in your browser. Unofficial one-click JSTOR cover removal.

Remove the pages you do not want from a PDF, and keep a clean copy. Open any PDF in a tab, click the toolbar icon, and every page appears as a thumbnail. Click the pages you want gone, press the button, and a new PDF without them lands in your Downloads folder. Your original is never touched: the result is always a new file, and a name that already exists gets a number rather than being overwritten. Cover pages are marked for you. Three are recognised on sight, a JSTOR cover page, a Harvard DASH repository cover sheet and an HKS Faculty Research Working Paper title page, so for those the page to drop is already ticked when the grid appears and all you do is press the button. Anything else you mark yourself, one click per page. Quick selections for the common cases: all pages, page 1, the last page, or clear. The button refuses to produce an empty document, so you cannot remove every page by accident. It works on files on your own disk too. A PDF opened from your computer over a file:// address is read the same way, once you turn on Chrome's "Allow access to file URLs" for this extension. The popup offers one button that takes you straight to that switch, because no extension is permitted to flip it for you. One click on JSTOR, if you want it. JSTOR puts a cover page in front of every article PDF it serves. Grant the optional permission for jstor.org and a "Remove cover" button appears beside JSTOR's own Download button on an article page; one click fetches the article with your existing JSTOR access, drops the cover and saves the rest. That permission is optional and revocable, so the extension asks for nothing on jstor.org until you say yes, and the button goes away again if you withdraw it. This extension is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by JSTOR or ITHAKA. "JSTOR" is a trademark of ITHAKA, used here only to say what the button is for. Nothing in this extension bypasses a login or a paywall; it removes a page from a PDF you can already download. Your PDFs stay on your machine. The extension has no server and stores nothing, not even a setting, and it does not request the storage permission. The page work is done by two open-source libraries shipped inside the package, pdf-lib and Mozilla's pdf.js, so nothing is uploaded and nothing is fetched from a CDN. There are no analytics, no account and no API key. See the privacy policy for the detail.
