PDF Editor opens PDFs right in Chrome and lets you annotate, fill, sign and reorganize them — then save a standard PDF that opens in any reader. Everything happens on your device: your documents, file names and web addresses are never uploaded anywhere. ★ OPENS YOUR PDFS AUTOMATICALLY • Click a PDF link and it opens in the editor instead of the built-in viewer (turn this off or exclude sites in Settings) • Open files from your computer with the toolbar button or by drag and drop • Right-click a PDF link and choose “Open in PDF Editor” • Opens password-protected and very large PDFs • Switch back to Chrome's own viewer with one click ★ EDIT THE TEXT AND IMAGES OF THE PDF • Click a line of text to retype it in place: fix a typo, change a name, a date or an amount • The new text keeps the document's font, size and color (bold and colored words stay that way) • Select text and press Delete to remove it from the page, not just cover it • Select text to change its font, size, color, bold/italic style, superscript or letter spacing from a small toolbar right above it — only the selected words change • Align lines left, center, right or justified, change their line spacing, or make paragraphs a bulleted or numbered list • Click an image of the page to move, resize, rotate or flip it, replace it with another picture, save it, or delete it ★ ANNOTATE AND REVIEW • Highlight (in five colors), underline and strike out selected text from the same toolbar • Sticky-note comments, text boxes, freehand drawing, rectangles, ellipses, lines and arrows • Choose colors, line width, opacity and fonts; move, resize and delete anything • Edit or delete comments that are already in the PDF • Comments panel: every comment by page, with a filter — click one to jump to it • Copy and paste comments, shapes and images; paste a screenshot or text straight onto the page • Unlimited undo and redo ★ FILL AND SIGN • Type into form fields, tick checkboxes and pick options — fields stay editable, or flatten them when saving • Add checkmarks, crosses, dots and today's date anywhere on the page • Sign with a drawn, typed or uploaded signature and keep it on your device for next time • Insert images, or cover areas with whiteout ★ STAMPS, PAGE NUMBERS AND WATERMARKS • Rubber stamps: APPROVED, REJECTED, DRAFT, FINAL, CONFIDENTIAL, FOR COMMENT, VOID — or your own text • Page numbers, headers and footers, with the file name or date if you like • Bates numbering for legal and business documents • Text watermarks behind or over the page content, in any color, size, opacity and angle ★ ORGANIZE PAGES • Reorder pages by dragging thumbnails • Rotate, duplicate, delete and insert blank pages • Crop pages to the area you need • Merge PDFs, extract pages into a new file, or split a document every few pages, at chosen pages or at its bookmarks ★ READ COMFORTABLY • Fast rendering, zoom, fit to width or page, continuous or single-page scrolling • Search with highlighted results, document outline and working links • Light and dark themes, plus optional dark page rendering • Remembers the last page and zoom of each document • Print with all your changes ★ SAVE WITH CONFIDENCE • Download an edited copy, or save back to the file you opened from your computer • Your original file is only changed if you choose to save over it • If the tab closes or crashes, reopen the PDF to restore your unsaved changes ★ PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No account, no uploads, no tracking, no ads • Documents are processed entirely in your browser • Scripts embedded in PDFs are never run • Settings, signatures and recovery copies stay on your device, and you can delete them in Settings PERMISSIONS, EXPLAINED • “Read and change all your data on all websites”: lets the editor show PDFs you open on any website. The extension only redirects PDF files you navigate to and downloads that file to display it. It doesn't read or change web pages and adds no scripts to them. • Storage: your settings, saved signatures and recovery copies, on this device. • Context menu: the “Open in PDF Editor” item for PDF links. TIP: to open PDF files stored on your computer from their file:// address, go to chrome://extensions, open PDF Editor's details and turn on “Allow access to file URLs”. GOOD TO KNOW • Whiteout covers content but doesn't remove it; don't use it to redact sensitive information. • Text is edited line by line: paragraphs don't reflow. Scanned pages without a text layer have no text to edit. • Creating new form fields isn't supported yet.
