PDF Cutter - Split, Merge & Reorder Pages
Overview
Free PDF tool to split, merge, reorder & extract pages. Works offline - no upload, no signup. All processing done locally.
Ever needed to grab just a few pages from a PDF? You know how it goes. You've got a 50-page document but only need pages 12-15. Or you need to combine your resume with a cover letter into one file. Or someone scanned a document and the pages are completely mixed up. What do you usually do? Search for "split PDF online" or "merge PDF free" and upload your file to some random website. But wait—that's your contract, your bank statement, your medical records sitting on someone else's server. That's your confidential business proposal traveling through the internet to who-knows-where. Not great, right? That's exactly why we built PDF Cutter. It's a free PDF splitter and merger that does everything right in your browser. Your files never leave your computer. No upload, no server, no worries. Just a simple, fast PDF tool that respects your privacy. WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH IT? Split PDF - Extract Pages from Any Document Got a big document but only need certain pages? Our PDF page extractor makes it easy. Drop your PDF in, see all the page thumbnails instantly, pick the pages you want by clicking them or typing something like "1-5, 8, 12", hit export, and you're done. The whole process takes seconds, not minutes. No waiting for uploads, no processing delays. This PDF splitter works great for pulling chapters out of ebooks, grabbing specific pages from contracts, extracting pages from large reports, or making handouts from presentations. Students use it constantly to extract just the chapters they need for exams instead of lugging around 500-page textbooks. Office workers pull out relevant sections from lengthy reports. Teachers create focused handouts from larger course materials. Lawyers extract specific clauses from contracts for review. Real example: Your professor uploaded a 300-page textbook PDF to the course portal. You only need chapter 5 for tomorrow's exam. Instead of scrolling through hundreds of pages or printing the whole thing, just select those pages with our PDF page extractor and export. Now you have a lightweight file to study from. Another example: You received a 50-page contract but your client only needs to review pages 12-18. Use the PDF splitter to extract just those pages and send a clean, focused document instead of overwhelming them with irrelevant information. One more: Tax season and your accountant needs specific pages from various documents? Extract exactly what they need from each PDF. No more sending entire documents when only a few pages matter. Merge PDF - Combine Multiple Files Into One Need to combine PDF files into a single document? Our PDF merger handles it effortlessly. Add your PDFs by dragging and dropping them into the window. Each document gets color-coded so you can easily tell them apart. Drag pages around to get the order exactly right. You can even mix and match pages from different files however you want—take pages 1-3 from one document, page 5 from another, and so on. When everything looks good, export as one unified PDF. This PDF combiner is perfect for putting together job applications, assembling expense reports, creating comprehensive portfolios, or any time you need multiple documents merged into one file. Freelancers love it for combining invoices at month end. HR departments use it to create onboarding packages. Real estate agents merge property documents, disclosures, and contracts into single packages. Anyone who deals with paperwork regularly finds this PDF joiner incredibly useful. Real example: Applying for a visa? Drop in your passport scan, bank statements, employment letter, and flight booking confirmation. Arrange them in the exact order the embassy requires. One PDF, ready to submit. No more fumbling with multiple email attachments or worrying if you sent everything. Another example: End of month expense report? Throw all your receipt scans into the PDF merger and combine them into one organized document. Your accounting department will thank you for not sending 47 separate files. One more: Building a portfolio? Combine your best work samples, certificates, and references into one professional PDF package. Much more impressive than a zip file full of random documents. Reorder PDF Pages - Fix Page Order Instantly Pages in the wrong order? Our PDF page organizer fixes it in seconds. Load your PDF, see all the pages displayed as clear thumbnails, drag them to wherever they should go, and export. That's the entire process. If you make a mistake, there's a reset button to start over. Simple PDF rearranging without any complexity. This PDF reorganizer is great for fixing scanned documents where pages got mixed up, reorganizing presentation slides, moving appendices to the end of reports, or putting the most important information first. Anyone who's ever dealt with a scanner knows pages sometimes come out in the wrong order. Now you don't have to rescan the entire document—just drag and drop to fix it. Real example: Your assistant scanned a 20-page report but page 7 somehow ended up after page 15. Instead of asking them to rescan everything, just drag it back to the correct position. Problem solved in five seconds flat. Another example: You're preparing a presentation and realize the conclusion would work better as the third section instead of the last. Just drag those pages to where they make sense. No need to recreate anything from scratch. One more: Received a document where someone accidentally duplicated a page? Or included a page that shouldn't be there? Remove or rearrange as needed. WHY USE PDF CUTTER INSTEAD OF ONLINE PDF TOOLS? Your files stay on your computer. Period. This is the single most important difference. Online PDF tools upload your documents to their servers. Even if they promise to delete them afterward, your files still traveled through the internet to some company's computer. Who knows what happens to them there? Who has access? Are they really deleted, or just marked as deleted? Are they being used to train AI models? Are they sitting in a backup somewhere? With PDF Cutter, none of those questions even apply because your files never leave your device in the first place. Everything happens locally in your browser. Here's what that means in practice: No upload required. When you drop a file into PDF Cutter, it stays right there on your machine. The PDF processing happens in your browser using your computer's own power. Your sensitive documents never touch our servers because we don't have servers that handle your documents. No server processing. We literally don't have backend servers that process your PDFs. There's nothing to hack, nothing to leak, nothing that could be subpoenaed, nothing to worry about. No account needed. Just install the extension and start using it immediately. No email signup, no password to create and remember, no marketing emails flooding your inbox, no "please verify your account" nonsense. Works completely offline. Once you install the extension, you don't need an internet connection to use it. Open Chrome, open PDF Cutter, and work on your PDFs even on an airplane, in a coffee shop with sketchy wifi, or in a secure facility with no internet access. Completely free PDF tool. No premium tier, no hidden fees, no "upgrade to unlock more pages" tricks, no watermarks on your output, no daily limits. Every feature works, all the time, for everyone. We built this because we needed it ourselves. We literally cannot see your files because they never reach us. That's not a limitation—that's the entire point of how we designed this tool. WHO IS PDF CUTTER FOR? Students and Educators Extract chapters from digital textbooks for focused study sessions. Combine assignment pages into one submission file. Pull specific slides from lecture PDFs for review. Create study guides by merging relevant pages from multiple sources. When you're cramming for finals at 2am, the last thing you need is scrolling through 500 pages looking for one section. Office Workers and Business Professionals Merge reports from different departments into unified documents. Split contracts to share only the relevant sections with clients who don't need to see everything. Reorganize presentation decks for different audiences. Extract executive summaries from lengthy reports. When your boss needs something in five minutes, you can actually deliver. Legal and Finance Professionals Handle confidential documents without ever sending them to third-party servers. Extract specific clauses from contracts for focused review. Combine case materials and evidence packages. Merge financial statements and supporting documents. When you're dealing with sensitive client information, attorney-client privilege, or financial data, privacy isn't just nice to have—it's a professional obligation. Freelancers and Creative Professionals Build impressive portfolios by combining your best project samples. Merge multiple invoices for easier end-of-month accounting. Organize client deliverables into professional packages. Combine design mockups with specifications and contracts. When you're running your own business, professional presentation matters. Anyone Who Values Digital Privacy If uploading personal documents to random websites makes you uncomfortable, this is for you. Tax returns, medical records, financial statements, insurance documents, personal photos, private correspondence—some things shouldn't travel through servers you don't control. THE TECHNICAL DETAILS Works with any standard PDF that doesn't require a password to open. If your PDF opens normally in any PDF reader, it works with PDF Cutter. We support all standard PDF versions. Handles files up to 500MB in size. That covers virtually any document you'll encounter in normal use—even those massive scanned documents with high-resolution images. Requires Chrome version 114 or newer. If you're running a reasonably recent version of Chrome (which updates automatically for most people), you're good to go. Supports English and Japanese interfaces. The extension detects your preference and adapts accordingly. We plan to add more languages based on user demand. Works 100% offline after installation. No internet dependency whatsoever for the core PDF functionality. Install it once and use it anywhere. Only requests storage permission. That's solely to remember your preferences like dark mode and language selection. We don't request access to your browsing history, your other tabs, or anything else. Minimal permissions for maximum privacy. COMMON QUESTIONS Is PDF Cutter really free? Yes, completely free. No ads interrupting your work, no premium features locked behind a paywall, no subscription fees, no "free trial" that expires. We built it because we needed a privacy-respecting PDF tool ourselves, and figured others might find it useful too. What happens to my files when I use PDF Cutter? They're processed entirely in your browser's memory and that's it. When you close the extension, that data is cleared from memory. Your original files stay exactly where they are on your disk, completely untouched. We never modify your source files. Can I use PDF Cutter without an internet connection? Absolutely. Once installed, no internet connection is needed to split, merge, or reorder PDFs. This makes it ideal for working on sensitive documents in secure environments where internet access is restricted or unavailable. Does PDF Cutter modify my original PDF files? Never. PDF Cutter always creates new files as output. Your original PDFs remain completely untouched on your disk. You're never risking your source documents. Why does the extension need storage permission? Only to remember your settings like dark mode preference and language selection across sessions. This permission is not used to access or store your PDF documents in any way. What about password-protected PDFs? Currently PDF Cutter works with unprotected PDFs only. If your file requires a password to open, you'll need to remove that protection first using the original application that created it or another tool designed for that purpose. Is there a limit on how many pages I can process? No artificial limits whatsoever. We've successfully tested with documents containing over 500 pages without any issues. The only practical limit is your computer's available memory, and modern computers have plenty for typical documents. Can I combine pages from different PDF files? Yes! In merge mode, you can drag and drop pages from multiple documents and arrange them in any order you want. Take page 1 from document A, pages 3-5 from document B, page 2 from document C—whatever combination you need. Does PDF Cutter work on Mac, Windows, and Linux? It works anywhere Chrome works. Mac, Windows, Linux, Chromebook—if you can run Chrome browser, you can run PDF Cutter. How do I access PDF Cutter after installing? Click the PDF Cutter icon in your Chrome toolbar, or use Chrome's side panel for a larger workspace. Can I undo changes? Yes. There's a reset button, and since we never modify originals, you can always reload the source file. HOW TO GET STARTED Getting started takes literally 30 seconds: 1. Click "Add to Chrome" to install the extension 2. Click the PDF Cutter icon in your toolbar (pin it for easy access) 3. Drop a PDF file into the window 4. Select pages to extract, add more files to merge, or drag to reorder 5. Click Export to save your new PDF That's everything. No account creation, no tutorials to watch, no learning curve to climb. If you can drag and drop files, you already know how to use PDF Cutter. A FINAL NOTE We built PDF Cutter because we were genuinely frustrated with the existing options. Desktop PDF applications are bloated and expensive. They want hundreds of dollars for software packages full of features most people never use. They slow down your computer, take up gigabytes of disk space, and constantly nag you about updates and subscriptions. Online PDF tools are convenient, but they're a privacy nightmare. Every time you upload a document, you're trusting that company with your data. Maybe it's fine most of the time—but do you really want to take that chance with your tax returns, medical records, legal documents, or confidential business information? So we built something different. A lightweight browser extension that handles PDFs entirely on your local machine. No drama, no data collection, no privacy concerns, no corporate servers involved. Just a straightforward tool that does exactly what it says. We use PDF Cutter ourselves every single day. For splitting receipts, combining reports, extracting chapters, reorganizing presentations. It's become an essential part of our workflow, and we hope it becomes part of yours too. Thanks for choosing PDF Cutter. Your documents deserve to stay private.
