What you post — posts, replies, quotes, long-form What you do — likes and bookmarks. X offers no export for either of these; this is the only record of them What you change — both sides of an edit, and deletions What surrounds you — profile cards, following and follower rosters, mutual connections There is no server. Everything is written into the browser local IndexedDB and is uploaded nowhere. Once it is installed, the local copy survives going offline and survives the account being closed. How it differs from taking an archive The export X provides is a snapshot taken when you ask for it, and it contains neither your likes nor your bookmarks. This is a continuous record: the day you deleted a post, the sentence you edited, the post you liked — captured at the moment it happened. Images and video Optional. With it on, media in the posts is downloaded locally. For images X no longer serves, it asks the Internet Archive for the same picture — which is the only route by which a closed account keeps its pictures at all. Archives Split by account and by month, written into a folder. Text-only archives are JSON; archives carrying media are ZIP. Each file holds only its own account records. With the companion reader (open source, separate), these archives open as an offline timeline with search, per-account filtering, and remembered reading position. Permissions, and why x.com / twitter.com — without it the extension can do nothing at all. pbs.twimg.com, video.twimg.com (optional, off by default) — only requested when you turn media caching on. web.archive.org (optional, off by default) — only requested when you turn the archive gap-fill on. unlimitedStorage — media adds up. No <all_urls>, no remote code, no analytics. What it does not do It does not send your data anywhere. It does not modify your posts. It does not read direct messages. It does nothing while x.com is not open, other than finishing work already queued.
