Overview

See a web folder list like a file manager. Browse, search, and download files or whole folders.

Remote Files Browser shows a web folder list (the "Index of /" pages) as a clean file manager. Many servers show their files as a plain list of links. This extension turns that list into folders and files that you can browse, search and download. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Browse folders in list view or grid view. In grid view, picture files show a small preview. • Search the folder you are in. Sort by name, type, size or date. • Download one file, several files, or a whole folder with everything inside. • Save a folder into a place you choose, with all its files and sub-folders inside. Or save it as one ZIP file. • Go Home, Back, Forward or Up. Copy the address of the folder you are in. • Save your connections and give each one a name. • Use light mode, dark mode, or follow your computer. • Use the keyboard: arrow keys, Enter, Space, and ? to see all shortcuts. HOW TO START 1. Click the extension icon. 2. Type the address of the folder and press Open. 3. Chrome asks you to allow that one website. Choose Allow. FOLDERS WITH THEIR OWN PAGE Some folders show their own index.html page instead of a list. The extension tries to list them anyway. It reads the page as plain text (it never runs it) and shows what the server or the page points to. OPTIONAL BLUE BAR On a web page that is a folder list, the extension can show a blue bar: "Open this path in Remote Files". In Settings you choose where it appears: only on your saved connections (the default), on every website, or never. PRIVACY Everything happens on your computer, inside Chrome. The extension has no server, no account and no tracking. Nothing is sent to Rocuo or to anyone else. Chrome connects straight to the website you type, the same as opening it in a tab. Pages from that website are only read as text. They are never run. PERMISSIONS • downloads: to save the files you choose. • storage: to remember your connections and your settings. • scripting: for the optional blue bar. Access to a website is optional. Chrome asks for one website at a time. Remote Files Browser is made by Rocuo (rocuo.com).
