)Overview
Speed control for any video or audio on the web, with hotkeys that work in embeds and fullscreen.
Ever need to watch lectures faster? Or jump back a few seconds in a reel without rewatching the whole thing? pbm is a playback speed controller for video and audio on any site. One key press sets the speed, and you pick the keys. Shortcuts - Alt+1–9 for 1x through 5x, Alt+0 for 10x. You choose where the ladder starts and how big each step is. - Alt+. and Alt+, nudge up and down by 0.25. - Hold H to boost to 16x, release to drop back. Good for blowing through an intro without losing your place. - Alt+J and Alt+L skip back and forward 5 seconds without pausing. The "wait, what did they just say" key. - 0 restarts the current video from the beginning. - Alt+` toggles between 1x and your last speed. - Alt+Shift+ a number plays in reverse. It works by seeking backwards, so there's no audio: short buffered clips like reels reverse cleanly, long streamed video steps rather than plays. Settings Everything above is configurable in the popup: modifier key, the speed ladder, boost key and speed, skip distance, and whether to remember a speed per site. Pitch stays normal at high speeds so 3x doesn't sound like alvin and the chipmunks. The on-screen speed indicator can be turned off too. Privacy pbm makes no network requests at all. Settings sync through your Chrome profile; per-site speeds stay on your machine. No accounts, no tracking, no analytics. NOTE: It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube, Google, Instagram, Meta, or any other site it works on.
