Overview

Save copied browser text locally and paste previous snippets with a shortcut.

Ever copy something important, then lose it after copying something else? You copy a name from one tab, an email from another, then a link from a third page and suddenly the first thing you copied is gone. Paste Better keeps a local history of plain text you copy while browsing, so you can quickly bring back something you copied earlier. Why Paste Better helps: BROWSER CLIPBOARD HISTORY - Plain text copied from supported browser pages is saved automatically while capture is enabled. SHORTCUT-BASED PASTE HISTORY - Press Ctrl + Shift + V on Windows/Linux or Cmd + Shift + V on Mac to open your recent copied text and paste without leaving the page. LOCAL-FIRST STORAGE - Your clipboard history is stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB. No account is required. RECENT COPIES AT A GLANCE - See your copied text in newest-to-oldest order, with recent items available when you need them. KEYBOARD FRIENDLY - Use the arrow keys to move through your paste history, Enter to paste, and Esc to close. CAPTURE CONTROL - Pause or resume clipboard capture anytime from the extension side panel. CLEAR HISTORY - Delete your local clipboard history whenever you want. NATIVE PASTE STAYS NORMAL - Your regular Ctrl + V or Cmd + V shortcut still works exactly as usual. Paste Better only opens when you use the paste-history shortcut. How it works: 1. Install Paste Better. 2. Copy plain text from supported browser pages. 3. Press Ctrl + Shift + V on Windows/Linux or Cmd + Shift + V on Mac. 4. Choose a previous snippet from your paste history. 5. Press Enter to paste it into the current field. Paste Better is useful for researchers, writers, students, job seekers, support teams, and anyone who copies text across tabs, forms, documents, or web apps. Your privacy matters. Paste Better is browser-scoped and local-first. It stores copied plain text locally in your browser and does not send your clipboard history to Paste Better servers. It does not monitor clipboard activity from desktop apps, does not capture images or files, and does not try to read everything on your device. Permissions explained: - Site access: Required so Paste Better can detect copy and cut events on supported browser pages and open the paste-history overlay when you use the shortcut. - Side panel: Required to show clipboard history controls, including capture pause/resume and clear history.
