Parla reads any web page you open aloud — and can translate it into 25+ languages and read it in that language. The pages you read and your browsing history are never sent anywhere. No account, no ad networks, no analytics, no trackers. If you use Pro voices, the text being read is sent through our server to our voice provider only to generate audio, and is not stored. Otherwise only these ever reach our server: the version and interface language once at install; while reading, an anonymous usage signal once a minute (random device ID, version, language — never the page or text); your license key with Pro; and a fully optional survey if you uninstall. The server derives only an approximate city/country from the IP address and does not store the IP. WHY THE PERMISSIONS • activeTab and scripting: only when you press "Read this page", to read the text of that one tab. • storage: to remember your speed, voice, theme, language and (with Pro) your license and Pro voice. We don't request the "tabs" permission and can't see which tabs you have open. LIMITATIONS • Free voices are your browser's own; quality depends on your operating system.
