Overview

Fill passwords from your PanicVault database

PanicVault brings your passwords from the PanicVault Mac app directly into your browser. Authenticate with Touch ID and fill credentials on any login page — no cloud service, no account required. How it works PanicVault stores your passwords in an encrypted KeePass (.kdbx) file on your Mac. This extension connects to a small helper program running locally to read your credentials and fill them into web pages. Everything stays on your device. • Inline dropdown — focus a login field and a dropdown appears with matching credentials. Click to fill. • Popup — click the toolbar icon to search and browse all your credentials. • TOTP — two-factor authentication codes are generated locally and can be filled or copied. • Passkeys — WebAuthn assertions are signed locally for phishing-resistant login. • Touch ID — every session starts with biometric authentication. No typing your master password in the browser. What you need 1. The PanicVault app from the Mac App Store 2. The PanicVault Browser Helper (a free download from www.panicvault.org/browser-helper) Open PanicVault, unlock a vault, then install the helper. The extension is ready to use. **Privacy** • Your passwords never leave your Mac. The extension communicates only with the local helper binary over Chrome's native messaging protocol. • No analytics, no telemetry, no network requests. Zero data is collected. • The extension source code is available on GitHub. Compatibility Works with Google Chrome, Brave, Microsoft Edge, Arc, and other Chromium-based browsers. Requires macOS 14.6 or later with a Touch ID sensor or Apple Watch. KeePass format PanicVault reads and writes standard .kdbx 4 files. Your vault is compatible with KeePass, KeePassXC, KeePassDX, Strongbox, and other KeePass clients.
