PaneTrans pins a glass translation popup to any region of any web page — and keeps it live. Drag a rectangle over a live chat, video subtitles, a stock ticker, a comment feed; the popup shows the original and the translation side by side and re-translates the instant the text changes. Like clipping a real-time subtitle strip onto any slice of the page. WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT • Persistent, not one-shot. The popup follows the region until you close it. • Tracks live content with a MutationObserver, and auto-falls back to OCR for video frames / images / canvas. • Caption-bar mode: subtitle-shaped regions render as a real second subtitle track under the video. • Multiple regions at once — each gets its own draggable popup. ON-DEVICE BY DEFAULT The free and Pro tiers run entirely in your browser with local AI models (Transformers.js + ONNX). The optional Cloud subscription streams a hosted large language model, with tokens appearing as they translate. Because it runs on a server, the Cloud tier sends the text you translate to our service to produce the result (we meter usage but don't store your text).
