Palatine Janus

Palatine Labs' browser extension: records web steps and drives page elements for bots (Clio). Pairs with the Mercury agent.

Janus is the browser half of Palatine Labs, a robotic process automation control room you run yourself. Palatine Labs records what a person does on a computer and replays it as a bot. Janus is the part that sees the browser: it watches a tab while you record, finds the same elements again when the bot replays, and clicks and types in them on the bot's behalf. WHAT IT DOES • Records web steps — while a recording session is running, Janus turns clicks, typing, menu choices and navigations into steps your bot can replay. Each step carries several candidate selectors and an XPath, so the bot still finds the button after the page changes. • Resolves page elements — the recorder and the replay engine ask Janus to find an element by selector, by XPath or by point, and Janus reports where it is, whether it is visible, and what it looks like semantically. • Reads a labelled view of the page — for AI Steps, Janus builds a compact numbered list of the interactive elements on the page, so a step written in plain language ("click Submit") can be matched to a real control. • Drives the page — click, double-click, right-click, type, set and read values, check and uncheck, choose from a select, scroll into view, take a screenshot. Every element Janus touches gets a brief gold outline so you can see what the bot did. • Drives the browser around the page — open a tab or a window at an address the bot names, close the one it opened, go back or forward, read the page's HTML, and run a step's own JavaScript in the page. Each of these names the tab or window it means; none of them touches a tab the bot was not given. • Pairs itself — install the Palatine Labs agent (Mercury) on the computer and Janus finds it through a native-messaging host and connects on its own. There is nothing to configure. The Options page exists only for a machine without the agent. PRIVACY Janus talks to one thing: the Palatine Labs agent on the same computer, through native messaging. Page content, screenshots and recorded values go to your own Palatine Labs control room, and only while you are recording or a bot is running. Nothing is sent to us, because there is no "us" server — you host the control room. Nothing is sold or shared. Password field values are never read and never recorded. REQUIREMENTS Janus does nothing on its own. It needs Palatine Labs: the Mercury agent on this computer and a Palatine Labs control room you run.
