Overview
Capture page content for PageScouter monitoring — manually, or on a schedule using your own browser session.
PageScouter monitors web pages for changes. This extension lets you capture pages that a server can't fetch on its own — pages behind a login or a bot challenge — using your own browser session. • Click the toolbar icon to capture the current page into a monitor. • One click to add the page you're on as a new monitor. • Optional background capture keeps your monitors up to date while Chrome is open, using your existing browser session. It asks the site for the page in the background first, and briefly opens the page in a background tab to read the rendered version when that doesn't return the real page — a bot challenge, a page drawn by JavaScript, a sign-in wall — then closes the tab. That's a judgement made from the response, and it can be wrong either way, so any monitor can be set to always be read from a rendered tab instead. With background checks and workspace automatic browser capture enabled, later blocked workspace pages on previously approved sites can also move to browser capture, using only site access already granted in Chrome. Workspace owners can manage approved sites in Workspace settings. Requires a PageScouter account. By default the extension connects to the hosted service at app.pagescouter.com, which we operate — captured content and your capture token are held there. PageScouter can also be self-hosted: point the extension at your own server instead and nothing reaches us at all. Captured content and the capture token are sent only to whichever of those you connect to. Scheduled capture also contacts only the specific monitored sites you grant it access to. There are no analytics, advertising services, or other third-party data recipients.
