Overview

Edit local HTML files directly in Chrome with rich formatting tools and save changes as the same file or a copy.

PagePatch lets you edit local HTML files directly in Chrome — no separate editor needed. Open any HTML file in the browser, click the extension icon, and toggle edit mode. The page becomes editable instantly, and a floating toolbar appears with everything you need to make changes visually. WHY INSTALL PAGEPATCH? If you work with HTML files — class notes, saved web pages, documentation, reports, or quick prototypes — you no longer need to switch between a code editor and a browser to make simple changes. Open the file in Chrome, edit it right there, and save. That's it. WHAT YOU CAN DO Formatting: • Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, inline code • Headings (H1–H6), paragraphs, blockquotes, code blocks • Font size picker • Text color and highlight color • Bulleted and numbered lists with indent/outdent • Text alignment: left, center, right, justify Content editing: • Insert and edit links • Insert images from files or by URL, with drag-to-resize handles • Paste images directly from your clipboard • Insert horizontal rules • Clear formatting with one click • Delete selected text Find & Replace: • Live highlighting of all matches with match count • Navigate between matches with prev/next • Replace one or replace all • Optional case sensitivity • Open with Ctrl/Cmd+F Keyboard shortcuts: • Ctrl/Cmd+B (Bold), Ctrl/Cmd+I (Italic), Ctrl/Cmd+U (Underline) • Ctrl/Cmd+K (Insert/edit link) • Ctrl/Cmd+Z (Undo), Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Z (Redo) • Ctrl/Cmd+F (Find & Replace) Saving: • Save opens Chrome's Save As dialog with the original filename pre-filled • Overwrite the original by choosing the same location, or save a copy elsewhere • Unsaved changes are tracked with a visual indicator, and you'll be warned before navigating away HOW IT WORKS Open an HTML file in Chrome (drag it into the browser or use File > Open) Click the PagePatch icon in the toolbar Toggle "Edit mode" on Edit the page using the floating toolbar or keyboard shortcuts Click Save when you're done The toolbar is draggable and can switch between vertical and horizontal layouts to stay out of your way. When you save, PagePatch cleans up all its own UI elements so your saved file contains only your content — clean HTML, no leftover editor artifacts. PRIVACY & SECURITY PagePatch makes no network requests, collects no data, and includes no analytics or telemetry. All code runs locally in your browser. The extension only reads the HTML of pages you choose to edit, and only writes files to locations you explicitly select in the Save dialog. __________________________________________ Version 0.5.0 — release notes Style presets for callouts, cards, and button links; a built-in icon picker; light/dark toolbar themes; and a redesigned image insert panel with drag-and-drop support. __________________________________________ Version 0.6.2 — release notes New font family control plus split apply/dropdown pickers for block format, font size, and font family.
