Overview

Read webpages aloud with semantic structure, private local progress, and natural system voices.

PageLilt turns webpages into clear, easy-to-follow audio using speech voices available in Chrome and your operating system. Start reading the main article with one click, choose a specific area, or select only the text you want to hear. While a page is being read, click any sentence to jump there instantly. PageLilt keeps your place and highlights the current sentence so it is easy to follow along. Features: • Automatically finds the main readable content on a page • Preserves headings, paragraphs, list items, quotations, code, and table cells as separate reading units • Adds natural pauses between blocks while keeping visually wrapped sentences together • Lets the user choose a specific reading area when automatic extraction is not what they want • Reads content embedded in course and document frames • Reads selected text from the popup or context menu • Click any sentence during page reading to continue from that point • Play, pause, stop, replay, and skip between sentences • Adjust reading speed with immediate playback updates • Automatically selects the best available voice, with a concise language-aware voice list • Preview and favorite voices, with clear on-device or network labels • Falls back to the system voice if a selected voice becomes unavailable • Optional sentence highlighting with yellow, green, blue, or pink • Choose no scrolling, follow every sentence, or smart contextual scrolling • Smart Follow keeps the active sentence visible even inside tall embedded course and document frames • Reads ordered-list numbers and skips decorative bullet symbols • Continues speaking after the popup closes • Restores progress for up to 30 recently read pages • Saves preferences through Chrome sync • Includes keyboard shortcuts for play, stop, previous, and next Privacy: PageLilt has no account, advertising, or analytics. The latest active reading text and progress are stored only in local extension storage so the session can be restored. Recent-page history stores a sanitized page address, progress metadata, and short sentence anchors—not a separate full-page copy for every entry. The extension does not sell page content or send it to the developer's servers. Some system voices may use network services provided by Chrome, the operating system, or the installed speech engine.
