Overview

Keep important tabs alive when you need them.

Help keep important tabs active and loaded without automatically refreshing the page. PageKeeper gives you precise, per-tab control over background-tab protection. It is ideal for dashboards, monitoring pages, web applications, presentations and other long-running pages that you do not want Chrome to unload or treat as inactive. KEEP TABS ALIVE • Help keep selected tabs active while you work elsewhere • Ask Chrome not to automatically discard important tabs • Reduce unwanted reloads caused by browser memory saving • Request screen wake lock during presentations and monitoring • Help prevent compatible websites from pausing during inactivity • Apply different protection settings to every tab • Automatically retry protection after temporary failures • No automatic page refreshing FLEXIBLE PROTECTION MODES Standard Uses gentle activity pulses and asks Chrome not to automatically discard the selected tab. Session Adds an optional same-site HTTPS request to help compatible website sessions remain responsive. Presentation Requests screen wake lock while protecting the tab from automatic discarding. Maximum Enables every available protection method for demanding pages. Custom Choose exactly which protection methods and timing settings each tab should use. INDEPENDENT PER-TAB SETTINGS Every protected tab remembers its own settings for the current browser session. Changing one tab does not interfere with other tabs, websites or browser processes. Choose how frequently PageKeeper runs. Protection can continue until manually stopped, end after 15 minutes, one hour or four hours, stop at a specific time, or end when the tab closes. SAVED PROFILES AND WEBSITE RULES Save frequently used settings as named profiles and quickly apply them to other tabs. You can optionally create an “Always protect this website” rule. PageKeeper then applies your chosen profile whenever you visit that exact website. Site access is requested only when you create a website rule and only for the selected HTTP or HTTPS site. Removing the rule also removes its site permission. PROTECTED TABS DASHBOARD View all currently protected tabs from one place. • Open, pause, pulse or stop individual protected tabs • Apply profiles to multiple tabs • Search, filter and sort protected tabs • View warnings and recent activity • Pause or resume protection across all tabs LIVE DIAGNOSTICS See the current protection status, last pulse, next scheduled pulse, pulse count and the result of each enabled protection method. PageKeeper identifies temporary failures, schedules another attempt when automatic repair is enabled and shows warnings when a protection method is unavailable. OPTIONAL NOTIFICATIONS PageKeeper can notify you when protection expires or when a protection method fails. Notification permission is requested only if you enable one of these alerts. The permission is removed again if both notification options are switched off. RIGHT-CLICK CONTROLS Quickly start, pulse or stop protection from Chrome’s right-click menu. Saved profiles can also be applied directly from the menu. OPTIONAL CHROME SYNC Profiles, default protection settings and interface preferences can optionally be synced through your Chrome account. Protected tabs, website rules, granted site permissions, notification choices, diagnostics and activity history remain local to each device. Chrome sync is disabled by default. PageKeeper’s developer cannot access your synced information. BACKUP AND RESTORE Export profiles, default settings and interface preferences to a JSON backup file and import them again when needed. Backup files do not include protected-tab information, activity history, website rules or site permissions. PRIVACY FIRST PageKeeper has no advertising, analytics, tracking, user accounts, remote code or developer-controlled servers. Protected-tab information, website rules, diagnostics and activity history remain on your device. PageKeeper does not collect or sell browsing history, page content or personal information. If Chrome sync is enabled, selected profiles and preferences are stored using Chrome’s synchronised extension storage under your Chrome account. This data is handled by Google and is not available to PageKeeper’s developer. The optional server keep-alive method sends only a same-site HTTPS HEAD request to the website you are currently using. Applicable cookies belonging to that website may accompany the request, but nothing is sent to PageKeeper or its developer. MINIMAL PERMISSIONS PageKeeper requests only the permissions required for its protection features. It does not request access to every website at installation and does not request access to your browsing history, downloads, local files or every open tab. Optional website access is requested only for the exact site selected when you create an automatic website rule. IMPORTANT INFORMATION Website behaviour varies. Some websites ignore synthetic activity, and Chrome may delay background timers or discard tabs during extreme memory pressure. PageKeeper cannot operate on protected browser pages such as chrome:// pages or the Chrome Web Store. Screen wake lock and other protection methods may also be unavailable on some pages. Protection is disabled by default and only runs on tabs or websites you choose. PageKeeper includes 17 localised interface options, including separate British and American English versions. Help keep the tabs that matter active with PageKeeper.
