Your web notebook that never phones home. Right-click any page or highlight, and Pagefold keeps it — text, source, time and a screenshot — then lets you find it again later by meaning, not by exact keywords. Everything runs on your own computer: no account, no sign-up, no cloud, no tracking. ━━━ SAVE IN ONE RIGHT-CLICK ━━━ • Select text → "Save selection": stores the quote plus a screenshot with the selection highlighted, so you can see it in context later. • Right-click anywhere else → "Save this page (title + summary)": keeps the page title, site name, description and key headings so the page stays findable. • Right-click a selection → "Search my notes for …": check whether you already saved something similar without leaving the page. • Saving never blocks your browsing: if a screenshot or page info fails, the note is still saved and the note shows exactly why. ━━━ FIND BY MEANING, OFFLINE ━━━ • Type what you remember, press Enter, and notes are ranked by relevance — no exact wording required. Search "how to fix a flaky test" and find the article that never used those words. • Multilingual: a small local model (multilingual-e5-small) handles English, Chinese and many other languages, and it ships inside the extension. • Popup typing filters your notes instantly; Enter runs the full semantic search in the notebook and each result shows a match percentage. ━━━ KEEP EVERYTHING ORGANISED ━━━ • Notebook with two panes: list on the left, full note + screenshot on the right. Drag the divider to resize; it collapses to one column on narrow windows. • Every note shows its source site, saved time, character count and screenshot. • Copy the text, open the source page, or copy a deep link to any note. • Keyboard-friendly: "/" or Cmd/Ctrl+K to search, arrow keys to move, Enter to open, Delete to remove, Esc to close. • Screenshots are stored at full screen resolution (up to 2560 px, WebP) so text stays readable at 1:1 zoom. ━━━ NOTHING IS EVER REALLY DELETED ━━━ • Deleting moves a note to the Trash with a 6-second Undo. • Trash keeps items for 30 days: preview the screenshot and full text, then Restore or Delete forever. Confirmation is always required before permanent deletion. • The Trash is included in backups, so reinstalling brings it back too. ━━━ YOUR NOTES ARE YOURS ━━━ • Automatic local backup to Documents/PagefoldBackup on macOS, Windows and Linux, with a previous-snapshot file kept alongside. • A valid backup is never overwritten by an empty list: first install, reinstall and upgrades import missing notes before writing anything back. • Plain JSON, plus manual Export JSON / Import JSON as an escape hatch. • Uninstalling clears Chrome's internal storage, so the backup folder is your safety net — reconnect once after reinstalling and your notes return. ━━━ PRIVACY ━━━ • No account, no sign-in, no analytics, no telemetry, no remote servers. • No host permissions and no network requests: Pagefold works with the network completely off. • What you save never leaves your computer. Text, screenshots and search vectors stay in your browser's local storage. • Permissions are used only for what you ask: contextMenus (right-click menus), activeTab + scripting (read the page's title/description only when you save), tabs (open or reuse the notebook and capture the visible area), storage + unlimitedStorage (keep notes, screenshots, vectors and trash). ━━━ GOOD TO KNOW ━━━ • Requires Chrome 110 or newer. • The search model is bundled, so the download is larger than average and the very first search after install takes a moment to load the model.
