Take a screenshot of almost any real page and there's something in it you'd rather wasn't. A customer's email address. A cookie banner sitting across the header. Placeholder copy nobody ever got round to writing. Page Prep is the step in between. Fix the page first, then capture it. WHAT YOU CAN DO Edit any text on the page Click a heading, a paragraph, a button label, and type over it. Useful when the demo account has the wrong name in it, or you want to see how a longer headline wraps before anyone builds it. Delete whatever is in the way Cookie banners, newsletter popups, chat bubbles, ads. Click it and it's gone, and the page reflows as though it had never been there. Blur and redact private data Text is replaced character by character, so the line keeps its length and the layout doesn't jump. Images and avatars blur in place. A redacted invoice still looks like an invoice, which matters, because a screenshot full of black boxes is no use to whoever you send it to. Click a second time to bring anything back. Swap an image Drag a file from your desktop onto any picture on the page. Good for showing a design change without waiting for it to be built. Then take the shot Capture the whole visible page, or drag a box around one part of it. The toolbar takes itself out of the picture. Your edits stay put while you're on the page, including after you close the toolbar, so you can get the toolbar out of the way before capturing. Refresh and the page is back to normal. Nothing is ever written to the sites you visit. ON PRIVACY There is no networking code in Page Prep. Nothing in it is capable of sending your data anywhere, so there's nothing here you have to take on trust. No analytics, no accounts, no servers. It asks for no site permissions either. It uses activeTab, so it's given access to one tab at the moment you click the icon and loses it when you leave. Chrome shows no site access warning when you install it, because there's nothing to warn you about. The only thing it saves is four of your own settings, on your own machine. GETTING STARTED Click the icon on any page. Pick a tool. Click things. Press the camera button, or drag a region. Esc puts the tool away, and Esc again closes the toolbar. Settings are in the extensions menu: blur strength, whether drag-and-drop image swapping is on, and whether the toolbar remembers where you left it.
