PactLens: Agreement Summarizer

Summarize agreements in plain English and highlight terms that deserve attention.

PactLens helps you understand lengthy online agreements before you accept them. With one click, it extracts readable agreement text from the active webpage and returns a concise, plain-English overview. WHAT PACTLENS SHOWS - A short plain-English summary - Important terms and user obligations - Clauses and potential risks that deserve attention - Privacy, payment, renewal, cancellation, termination, and arbitration information when present - A general risk score with an explanation HOW IT WORKS 1. Open a webpage containing terms, a privacy policy, or another agreement. 2. Open PactLens and click “Summarize this page.” 3. Review the summary and highlighted terms before deciding what to do. PactLens reads a page only after you deliberately request a summary. It does not continuously monitor browsing activity. PRIVACY AND DATA PROCESSING PactLens sends only the extracted text needed to create the requested summary. It does not send the webpage URL or general browsing history. Extracted text is transmitted over HTTPS to the PactLens backend hosted by Railway and then to OpenAI, which processes the text to generate the summary. PactLens does not write agreement text or generated summaries to its own application database in this version. Infrastructure and service providers may process limited request information under their respective policies. PactLens does not sell agreement text, use it for advertising, or use it for unrelated profiling. Users receive an in-extension disclosure and must provide consent before PactLens reads and transmits page text. Consent can be withdrawn from the extension. PERMISSIONS - activeTab: Provides temporary access to the webpage selected by the user. - scripting: Extracts readable agreement text after the user requests a summary. - storage: Saves the user’s privacy-consent choice locally in Chrome. Important agreements should be reviewed carefully, and professional advice should be obtained when appropriate.
