Nothing is uploaded: Doc Scrubber reads your file inside the extension and builds the clean copy there. Open the Network tab and check. Before you send a contract, a proposal, an RFP response or a resume, see what the file carries about you, then download a copy without it. WHAT IT SHOWS (the "found in your file" report) - Word, Excel, PowerPoint: author, last modified by, company, manager, title, dates, total editing time, custom properties, preview thumbnail, comments and who wrote them, tracked changes and who made them (Word), reviewer list, revision ids, attached template path, Excel saved-from folder path, hidden sheets, hidden slides, speaker notes, camera and GPS data in embedded photos. - PDF: author, creator, producer, title, subject, keywords, dates, custom Info fields, XMP metadata, comments and annotations. WHAT IT REMOVES (each option is yours to switch off) - Document properties and personal info, comments and annotations, revision ids, camera/GPS data in embedded photos, and author names on whatever comments or tracked changes stay (replaced with "Author"). - Tracked changes in Word files: leave them, accept all or reject all. This edits the text, so it is always your choice, never silent. - After cleaning, the extension re-reads the clean copy and lists what is still in it. WHAT IT DOES NOT REMOVE Names written in the body text, headers, footers, signature blocks or the file name; text inside images; hidden sheets, rows, columns and slides, speaker notes and hidden text (the report lists them, you decide); embedded files and objects; macros; links to local paths (listed). Digital signatures stop validating after cleaning. Password-protected files and the old .doc, .xls and .ppt formats are not supported. Removes the fields listed here; not a guarantee that no identifying information remains. Keep your original and open the copy before you send it. FREE AND PRO Free: up to 5 files at a time.
